The IQ/Scottie/RJ/Ingram 4 man unit has a -27 Net RTG this team is going nowhere if they cant figure out how to play together. Or we gotta move RJ to sixth man and see if any of our other guards can stabilize the mins.
More worrying than the overall Net RTG is the 103 offensive RTG the worst team last year on offense were the Wizards at 106. This unit is always gonna be rough on defense but they HAVE to be good offensively. Its early but they need to figure it out over the next few weeks.

Yeah but thats after saying hes not trying to dunk as.much anymore because it taxes his body and he be landing wrong or on people feet or pushed out the air. And he has shown to have the athleticism and ability to be a dynamic star level talent but that downhill/highflying style doesn't seem to be something that many can keep going too long before it becomes a burden on the body.
If he had a better support system around him that didn't feed into his foolishness he'd perhaps be able to orient his game in a way like Ant has where he worked at other things so he wasn't one-dimensional, but that doesn't seem to be happening. So it's just wasted potential at this point.
The Grizz have done a great job of constantly finding nba contributors and Coward is the latest in that line, but still feels like they missed their window a few years ago with those Brooks teams.
He's had a ton of injuries and it's very likely he's on the decline athletically already. He only had 17 dunks last season in 50 games.

Craziest part is we have 105DRTG with Ingram on the bench.

If he's not going to be able to use his athleticism on a regular basis, how effective of a player does that make him?

CMB, Jak, Scottie also have 3 of the 4 worst DRTG's on the team as well. A lot of noise from the small sample sizes. Ingram definitely doesn't look great on the defensive end so far though.

I'm confident the Raptors will not acquire Ja, but if they did I'd be rooting against them.

I dont think the schemes are helping at all but RJ/Ingram are 2 of the worst offball defenders ive ever seen lmao (Ingram is also terrible on-ball). Our lack of a rim protecting center is killing us tbh. Hell we dont have 1 real center on the roster (I consider Mamu more of a 4).

Mamu actually has one of the best DRTG's on the team so far. Without Jak out there, he probably should be playing more if we're trying to win these games. We have been getting destroyed in the CMB small ball 5 minutes defensively. Not his fault as most rookies are going to struggle, they're probably hoping that throwing him in the fire will pay dividends later on.

I think we miss the healthy Poeltl of previous years, to anchor the defense. I am not yet concerned. Unless the trend continues in mid or late December.
Remember the Udoka Celtics? They turned it around in late December / became good January.

Ingram also doesn’t get back a lot after misses offensively. Demar-esque

I think my worry is that the history of back injuries with bigs or just athletes in general is generally not a great one. Not something that's ever likely to be 100% ever again so that calls into question if we can rely on Yak going forward. He may never be what he once was. If they do get to December and Yak's still on the mend, the need to be aggressive about chasing a replacement.

Ingram has had a good season so far scoring wise but there feels like theres something "missing" in his game and his pretty jumpers and efficiency can feel kinda empty. I feel like hes a guy that is extremely lacking in the little things.

I am concerned because Jakob's health is not looking great and he's missed around 30 games each of the past two seasons. He's already hurt to start this season without even playing in any games.
We have no real replacement for him either.

Do we have stats on any of them in 3 man combos that are working well? I would guess RJ, Barnes, and Ingram look good when they're with Shead and Poeltl.

Matches the eye test honestly. I don’t think Ingram has helped the team thus far.
I think the issues on O are because the team, in deciding that Scottie isn’t a scorer (which he isn’t) also decided to take the ball out of his hands as a decision-maker…which is stupid because he’s by far our best facilitator despite the occasional horrible shot or turnover. To accommodate this we have put the ball in Ingram’s hands more, which isn’t a bad thing in theory but it’s clear we have told him to try to score every time instead of utilizing his facilitation skills (which are pretty decent). This is just bad coaching/approach.
Defensively, Ingram is just slow laterally. And in recovery as well. And our system does more to highlight the deficiencies of our starters (IQ isn’t strong on ball and overhelps away from the ball, RJ has slow reaction time and loses his mark once they’re out of eyesight, BI is slow, Barnes is average at guarding the perimeter). Again, this is a coaching issue.
It’s still early though and we have faced some tough matchups. Lots of time to figure it out. That said, I’m quickly losing confidence in our coaching staff.
Quickly.
not strong, only aggresive cuz the power ain't directed/ that's why, we are subjected to the will of the oppressive

That Gary Temple money could have netted us a serviceable 3rd centre - Hope Temple is worth it!
