Wemby is still only 21 years old...teams will be able to use strategies to limit him and he will keep learning how to combat those defenses and improve his game.

At the end of the day when healthy he's the most lethal rim protector in the league already, he's probably the most unstoppable lob threat and his offense should continue to get better.

There is no reason not to play it safe with Wemby’s injury concerns for the sake of having better matchups with strong 7-footers. There are other ways to get around that problem - like learning how to put them in foul trouble, avoiding static post-ups and taking advantage of Wemby’s mobility while improving balance and stability with the body he currently has. He’s made great strides in that department compared to last season, and he’s not done yet.

Enjoy it while it lasts. He's a great talent and is pretty phenomenal for his age.

I can see Wemby learn how to play again Mark Williams, but he's not going to pass the Caruso test.

Teams will figure him out at least some. I just don't see how that body can stay healthy in this league.

If I’ve learned one thing from Realgm, it’s that every great player and/or team either has been exposed or will be exposed.

Williams, Richards, Khaman Maluach... seems like the Suns built a team specifically to shut down Wemby.

Is this something other teams will be copying soon?

You didn’t watch the game at all.

The Suns used wing players as a first cover (Royce O'Neale primary defender) and they switched everything and doubled him when he got the ball inside the 3p arc.

It was absolutely a team defense and wings like Royce, Dunn and even Jordan Goodwin were his primary defender all the time.

Mark Williams usually covered Harrison Barnes and he helped protecting the rim. He blocked Wemby at the rim one time.

He isn't exposed after one bad game just as he isn't the GOAT after one amazing game.

It's usually a sign the player is going to explode with some great games.

Yeah...this is going kinda theme we'll see all year. As Wemby seems to be making a leap he's going to shock guy the first time or two and then they'll adapt. And Wemby is going to get shocked by freaky freakys like Willaims. People have to remember younger nba players have never played guys who were bigger than them and more athletic or stronger with that size. There's a learning curve. We saw it with Flagg against Wemby. Flagg won't get schooled in the same ways as he develops either.

This is nothing new. According to college basketball fans, AJ Dybantsa already got exposed in an exhibition game and he didn't even play bad.

What exactly do people even mean these days by exposed?

This is part of why first time playoff teams don't win it all. Your stars have to get accustomed to adjusting to specific defensive schemes. The first time you see something it can throw you off. In the playoffs you don't get redo games. You lose a game or two because of a new strategy and that can be the deciding factor for the series and see you next year.

The more likely answer is that he had a bad game, which is true for every player in the history of the NBA. Superstars are fallible too

I do buy that there are insights to be made as far as game planning but "exposed" is wack

The lost art of posting up. Someone so long being stopped by 6'6" Royce O'Neale is laughable. I assume Spurs will adjust next time a team defends Wemby like this.

Looks like the Lakers got the memo from the Suns and shut down Wemby again..... :-o

I read the title wrong: Grant Williams exposed Wemby.

Was running here to say the Mavs fans: I've told you! Grant can play!

OK, it's Mark :( Come on, Grant, there is still time!

Wemby before getting exposed by PHX and Mark Williams... 5 games, 57FG%, 15.1rpg, 1.2 turnover per game

Wemby after getting exposed... 7 games, 44FG%, 10.9rpg, 5.8 turnover per game

He's had a rough couple of games but he's been getting back where he needs to be.
Once he adds those 10 pounds of muscle to his lower body it's gonna be far harder to stop him, a 260 pounds Wemby will be truly unstoppable while still being too quick and nimble for every big man in this league.
