Which kinda highlights how unimportant block are. Forcing guys into awkward or uncomfortable shots is more important and Embiid was always great at that when he could move.

I think having atleast 1 or 2 shotblockers are important. It seems like everytime we get a block or deflection it goes to the other team. When you can not secure the ball or rebound after a stop it kind of defeats the purpose.

McCain is upgraded to probable for the next game. Defense is optional, Offense is mandatory.
They say an analytics man doesn't have a heart, but I ran the numbers and nothing can be further from the truth - Sam Hinkie probably

Alright trade Embiid and I'll be happy.

Nice! Hard to believe that McCain is going to come back before Part Time Paul does, but I'll take it. Any news on PG? Or is he waiting for his next non basketball related injury to occur to keep him from suiting up for us? Also, how's Oubre?

Oubre wasn't on the injury report. He was even available at the end of the last game but wasn't needed. Also, he said in the post game he would be playing tomorrow.ExplosionsInDaSky wrote:Nice! Only thing somewhat concerning is that the ankle he tweaked was the same one he tweaked a couple weeks ago or something along those lines.

Report a few days ago was that he's supposed to come back early November so maybe later this week or next week

Anyone atleast slightly concerned about the shot distribution once everyone is back and Embiids minute retriction is gone?

Somewhat but not more concerning than the defense of this team. I don't think Embiid is getting above 25mpg and his complaining about minute restriction is probably just for show, since he's still not totally in shape and his knee isn't really built for 30-40 mpg any more.
I think Edgecombe and McCain will be the ones who takes the hit shot wise since they are young and on rookie contracts. They also seem to have A+ personalities and are willing to defer to players like Maxey, Embiid, Grimes and PG... for now. Also, they have shown their willingness to be off ball scorers who take high quality shots.
The downside is that McCain and Edgecombe seem like the guys who are best for creating when the game is on line, unfortunately.

With the huge asterisk that all of the teams we have played thus far are <.500
The vibes are great, but a 19th DRTG against these bottom dwellers is obviously very poor. Especially considering our opponents shot just 30.9%, while we shot 40.6% from three. That's the biggest discrepancy in the league at this point.
Our transition and interior defense needs to improve quickly, if we want to be competitive against good teams. Hopefully McCain and George can stabilize the offense somewhat and reduce turnovers that lead to easy transition points. George's perimeter defense should also help of course, while he's a better defensive rebounder than Oubre/VJ/Grimes/Edwards. So we could play a bit bigger with him, I am particularly interested in Maxey, VJ, George, Barlow/Watford and Embiid.

I don't think Embiid's minute restriction will ever really go away. I can't see dude ever playing 40 mins anymore, even in the playoffs
He also needs to defer more on offense if he's insisting on being in the starting lineup.
The way he wants to play, and his physical restrictions, really line up for him to be the 6th man. 20 mins off the bench, just go ham.

Have you seen Kawhi this season? He’s even planning to play on back to backs

And Embiid might be able to play 70 games a year too if he's the 6th man playing 20 mins a night.

We can play defense if we want to. Our DRTg in the fourth quarter is 2nd best at 100 DRtg.

We really need Barlow back for this defense. He's the only big man I feel confident in playing defense AND rebounding the ball.

Both our guards are logging over 40 minutes a night, so we can’t afford to press or pick up full court too often. That probably would change with McCain and George back in the rotation.

Yea and thats pretty bad when you think about it. But he seems like a really good fit so far.
The scout that found him needs a bonus.
