Re: Official 2025-2026 Magic Trade ideas thread
Combining Jett and Isaac could fetch the Magic a $20M player.
But it feels more realistic that they simply punt Jett into someone's cap space to avoid the luxury tax before the season is over.

What do you personally think our biggest need is just a few games into the season?
A certain archetype? Positional need? Anyone specific that needs to be phased out of the rotation and replaced?

The salaries might match, but what's the trade value being returned...not much without a pick attached.

Depends on how much money long-term money the Magic are willing to take on IMO.
Jett and Isaac are only combined on the books for $8M next year (assuming the acquiring team wouldn't let Isaac hit his games played threshold), so if a team has visions of being a free agency player next summer, clearing $12-15M off the books now could be appealing for some.

Players a team no longer wants for a player a team no longer wants.
This screams Monk (or Carter)/Coby White/John Konchar/Simons, maybe even Herb Jones/Jose Alvarado.
Meh players for meh players. SRP’s to fill gaps.

Re: Official 2025-2026 Magic Trade ideas thread
Zion is my version of Skybox dark horse. I think NOP is going to get rid of him and his contract, and there is no hope for the organization this season other than tanking (lol, they do not even have their own pick, sad). I think they could sell low and we could get him plus won't cost as much.
Zion can play sometime at Center position and done that effectively during the past few seasons. He could add up to our front court depth. Plus dude is a star in the league without injury.
There is a reason why it is a dark horse. Because we probably won't need him. Plus his injury concern. But if Pelicans sell him low, it is with great value
I even floated this idea last season. Haha. I am Skybox like

Somebody mentioned Ben Simmons...man, it's hard to disregard his early years. Giant PG, All-Defense, All-NBA to zero. Mose should check on him and see where his head is.

Then we have to waive someone. Plus we are only couple million under second apron. Also what about our guard depth? Suggs, Tyus and Jase. Now Ben? How we gonna make the rotation work? I like Ben. But he just needs to be available in his past several seasons. And again? He can not really shoot that well

Well, if anyone can fix a broken jumpshot it's the Orlando Magic.
Sorry, what's that?
Oh.

Zion and Paolo would be an awful fit. I really hope Zion gets it together physically...he's such a unique explosive package of skills.
6'6 PF with no 3 pt shot that relies solely on athleticism, and who knows how long those knees will hold out.

Admittedly, he's not a good shooter, but he's far from unskilled...he can put the ball on the floor and he's got a surprisingly soft touch around the basket for such a powerful launcher. He's not much different from Paolo's game when he's on.

Impact vise, Zion is incredible player, his on off numbers are off the charts, all advanced stats love him.
Problems are:
- he requires lot of roster adjustments
- but way bigger problem and key of them all- he never plays.

It’s so hard to realize that we mortgaged our future for this… You think it’s painful now, wait til the ping pong balls bounce and realize we gave up a top 5 pick in the 2026 draft class… It absolutely amazes me that Weltman has the position he has…

I’m looking at Suggs for Ja. He just gives us no where near 30million contract. Great vibes but he has to start doing something

Obviously WCJ needs to be first cab off the rank but our genius GM made that near impossible with his impending pay rise/extension

Watching this game v the Hawks really makes me wanna fire Weltman. An expensive roster that can’t beat mid card teams like Atlanta or Chicago. And there’s no way to fix it other than trading some really good players. Thanks Weltman.

Isn't whole East mid card? Just few teams deluded itself into thinking they are "true contender" just because there is no Celtics to slap them.
Pacers having competitive series vs OKC didn't do anybody any good. It just dug rest of eastern conference teams into bigger delusion of potential championship.
In reality, OKC had 29-1 record vs East in regular season but as a young team they struggled under pressure of winning it all. And Pacers team played above head whole playoffs. Almost won it all, but almost doesn't count.
