Putting aside the concerns about Ja's attitude/off court issues, I just don't think Ja would fit well next to Giannis. We don't need a point guard who can only shoot 30% from three. Hell, he's only shooting 16% from three this season. That's without even discussing his defensive liabilities.

I don't think Miami will want him. Riley wants dudes who will work hard. Ja isn't really Heat Culture.

Maybe Houston goes after him to replace FVV?

Counterpoint: Riley gave Hassan Whiteside a max, and Dion Waiters a 50-million dollar contract. I think they know this roster is going nowhere and he eventually goes star chasing. It's not like Tyler Herro and Andrew Wiggins are guys known for their tireless work ethic.

Yeah I think Reilly would probably do Herro + for Ja if possible

He regretted both of those contracts soon after they were given, though. They were big bets on young talents that didn't pay off. Wiggins was the result of having to trade Jimmy and they hoped they'd be able to absorb him into the culture. Herro's had immaturity issues but I'm not sure his work ethic has been an issue recently.

I also don't know if Spoelstra wants to deal with Ja and his nonsense.

He might want to go star chasing, as always, but I don't think Ja is the kind of star that'll take them to the next level.

Ja's a difficult situation because along with the attitude/off-court concerns, I'm not seeing any young franchises with a solid enough culture/infrastructure that would feel confident enough building around him. So I really think it's gonna be an established, veteran playoff squad that convinces themselves he's their best shot at a distressed asset superstar. Don't think Houston makes sense, but Boston could make a play without touching their core guys (White, Brown, Tatum). Clippers, Miami, Dallas, and Phoenix would be my Top-4 if I was a betting odds guy.

Houston withe the clear and obvious need at PG and still have picks to trade. I didn't dig into salary matching but that seems to be the obvious fit/match.

Plus, its Texas so wouldn't it be weird if he didn't have a gun on him all the time

They played together in AAU or something too didn't they? Feel like I remember some talking point about them growing up with each other in the lead up to their draft.

Herro is literally an insanely hard worker, practically the young embodiment of Heat Culture. Like going back to HS his work ethic is his defining trait as prospect. Plenty you could criticize the dude for, but he is about as hard of a worker as you will find among any modern NBA young player. Herro has more in common with Giannis in terms of work ethic than he does with someone like Ja.

Don't see Ja in Miami whatsoever. Dude has never tried on defense in his life, doesn't run offense well, can't shoot, off the court idiot, can't be coached, it would be utterly shocking for Ja to end up in Miami as he is the antithesis of everything they value as an organization.

Obviously these guys are trolling in bringing suit and hoping to somehow, someway get some cash.

But I do love the side benefit of them being able to do discovery and get all the Kawhi/Ballmer records.

Hilarious that the nba is still playing out this charade like any of that was above board. They are intimidated by Ballmer rather than corrupt imo
