I would be down to trade picks after the first 2 rounds for a DE and CB, even if they’re not as good as ones we could get for a 1st or 2nd.

So I went into a-fib after the onside kick. My heart rate went up to 193 and my monitor went off. I had to go to the emergency room (after the game) and get a Cardizem push. While he didn't put it on the game, my cardio-electrophysiologist recommended that I get rid of my season tickets. (Probably a Packer fan). (Strike that. Probably a cricket fan).

A couple of obvious observations.

Monangai looked great with the qualifier that it was the Bengals defense. Britton Brown, or probably Charlie Brown could run through those holes so I'm not putting much stock into it other than Johnson should use him instead of Swift in short yardage/goal line situations.

If there were 30 seconds left on the clock after Lovelands TD instead of 17 the Bears would have lost.

No Bears QB ever has looked as good as 40 something year old Joe Flacco.

Caleb lowers his eyes and doesn't see the field after he leaves the pocket. On one scramble he actually turned his head and was looking backwards. Kudos for putting one on Loveland and letting the Bengal's defense do the rest.

The Bears are not a playoff team.

I don't like what you're saying although I agree with you and I really don't want to.

Jaelan said Phillips to the eagles for a 3rd. I guess poles only makes trades if he grossly over pays

Thats 2 torn Achilles in 4 years. Thats not a season ender thats a career ender. I think that changes the calculus on making a move at DE. I still dont know if they do it this season but you now absolutely have to find a starting DE sometime between now and next August.

The WAS win was nice, but they're proving to be a pretty poor team this year, even with Daniels. The Cowboys win was probably the best of the season, but that was aided by a lopsided turnover margin.

When we start playing teams like the Packers, Eagles, Lions and Vikes, we'll see how good we really are. My guess is we'll likely struggle against those teams, although we could beat the Pack and Vikes as they have been pretty up and down themselves this year. But our defense just isn't good enough, esp. with the injuries. And ST are also a glaring weakness that becomes more noticeable by the week. We gave up a return TD, a recovered onside kick, and had a FG blocked this past week. Those kinds of mistakes often cost you wins.

That is probably some obscure NFL record. Number of teams that gave up a return for a TD, had a FG blocked, and had an onside kick recovered against them in a single game has to be pretty small. The number of teams to achieve that feat and still win (or lose depending on which side you are on) probably consists of two teams...Chicago and Cincy!

I read that CIN is the only team in about 60 years to score 38 or more points in consecutive games and lose both.

Dayo was my least favorite FA signing this offseason, and now it looks like it will be a complete waste. Sucks, for the team and for him.

It could be worse- Chargers lost Joe Alt for the year with an ankle, and GB lost their top receiver for the year as well, Kraft.

With what cap space? The Bears are up against it next year. They only have 2.8 mil in cap space for 2026. They don't get any cap savings from cutting Sweat or DJ unless it's post June 1st. Poles giving those awful contracts to Dayo and Jarrett have them cap strapped.

No day one or day two picks should be moved tomorrow. I can be talked into day 3 but at most looking for stop gaps.

If reports are true, we could have Jaylon Johnson back in a month. Need a band aid or depth at CB and DE. 6-7 I’m
Ok with moving. But unless we getting Max Crosby, we can stand pat otherwise

The same way every team in the NFL creates cap space out of thin air: find a player you are committed to long term and you turn their base salary into prorated restructure bonus. It will take ownership ponying up cash upfront, but its a $9B franchise and you cant trot out Sweat/Booker/Turner/nobody at DE and tell the fanbase you are trying to win.

I also suspect they move on from Kmet and Swift, and maybe Edmunds which would clear up 8.4M, 7.5M, and 15M respectively. All 3 of these players are nice to haves but not need to haves if the Bears are looking to free up cash.

Edit: also to clarify i still think they just sign KPassagno and find a DE next year, this a decision I still believe they make in the next offseason.
