What would your team offer for Ja Morant (fair & realistic only)

I disagree with my fellow Blazer fans. I would take him. I wouldn't give up the world for him though. I'd offer Scoot and Grant. Works under the salary cap. Grant's having a nice start to the season and the Grizz can see if Scoot can be salvaged. Portland takes a risk but I think it's worth taking personally. Eh, I think if Memphis offered him for Scoot and Grant Portland would do it. It would be run by Dundon of course, but that might be the kind of new owner splash he'd want to make. Buy low on a former super star who's only 26. But I also don't think Memphis offers him for that little. Someone would give up picks for Ja.

I think Ja has the ability to be more than a Temu version of Iverson.

I think he could be an Isiah Thomas type, where he is a leader via his play style and get other players to follow him.He doesn't have to be THE LEADER (TM).

Let Ja get his pick and rolls so he can get his 25 points, but also tell him to get 10 to 15 assists a game. He'll be fine.

He has a high level of basketball genius. He also doesn't need the ball all of the time. He isn't a Trae Young/Steve Nash type of PG that pounds the ball. Ja can do back door cuts and hand offs.

He just needs a coach that has enough respect and cache that he can't pout and get a response.

Spo had to stand up to LeBron, he had to stand up to Jimmy Butler, he isn't gonna have a problem with Ja Morant.

What would the trade look like?

I could see a weird deal of:
Griz sending Morant/Clarke
Heat send (hold your horses) Rozier/Wiggins/Future FRP.

Since Rozier is out for the year, it is really a salary savings on a guy expiring. Just not sure if he is allowed to be traded with legal issues/suspension.
Wiggins still gives Griz a SF who has winning experience.

I doubt the Grizzlies care about winning anything since they seem to doing a tear down.

Ja is worth 2 protected first rounders and cap relief.

A realistic trade would be Andrew Wiggins and S.Fontecchio plus picks for Ja Morant, if the Heat don't want to give up Herro.

I could see the Grizz asking for Herro, so it would be Herro going over with S.Fontecchio. And in that case, the Heat still have Norman Powell.

I don't see Brandon Clark going to Heat, the Heat already have established big men. They need a PG.

Plus they have Kasparas to take take Herro's place anyway.

Bulls and Hawks already have a point guard (Ja in Atlanta is dangerous ), the Nets just drafted 5 like point guards.

For the Raps I assumed they were all in on Barnes playing point forward, besides they are in the tax, wouldn't that make it a pain in the ass to maneuver?

I really wouldn't want Ja on my team, imo he's more trouble than he's worth. On the court he struggles to stay healthy, his game has unquestionably declined over the last couple of years. Most concerning to me is how he's never been able to develop a 3 pointer, you'd think in the current NBA and 7 years in he'd show some improvement in that regard, but he's failed to crack 31% the last 3 years now, just abysmal from your point guard, and while a small sample size, is shooting an atrocious 16% 2 weeks into this year.

That's strictly his on the court flaws, his off the court ones are well documented, he seems unbelievably immature, he's a poor leader, to me he just doesn't have the on court impact to justify all the nonsense he brings off the court.

As a Nuggets fan, I wouldn’t trade Jamal Murray for Ja Morant straight up. I can’t imagine a deal I would possibly be interested in where he goes to Denver.

I think around the league his value is probably something like salary filler plus a protected first to a team who’s desperate for PG play. He’s definitely not valuable enough to net Memphis serious assets at this point.

Cronin has very very very clearly prioritized character - anyone who's close to this team will confirm that. There's less than zero chance they would take Ja's character into this lockerroom.
