I feel very confident we can rip off Joe Dumars for Zion.

Dumars has to at least be smart enough to know that he needs a pick in this year's draft if he trades Zion. If I were Jeff I'd be willing to include our 26 pick protected for the top 4. Which is what Dumars should have done with the ATL trade, but oh well.

Sure as long as the '26 pick is top 4 protected. I'm not potentially dealing Cam Boozer for Zion.

Zion makes sense especially with his new improved body.

That's probably a better deal than any other team would offer. The question is if Dumars is willing to burn their season. I don't think they're quite there yet, but if they're still looking awful by the time December rolls around I think it's a possibility.

If sending the ‘26 pick I’m making it top 7 protected. It’s a deep draft and I’d hate for the Hornets to bottom out with a 5th thru 7th pick that could be a difference maker and we miss out. So Zion for the protected ‘26, 2028 first, Miles, Tiddy (or similar) and some 2nd round picks. I doubt they do that, but I would.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I wouldn't trade our own picks. Only the 2026 and 2029 "mystery" picks (from the various trades with suns) and either Dallas or Miami picks. That's essentially 3 mid-late 1sts and miles

Melo/Kon/Miller/Zion/Kalk

Seems like a great fit on paper.

If we're picking guys off NOP, I'm not that interested in Zion. More interested in damaged goods deals for Herb Jones and Trey Murphy.

Yet on the OTHER hand… Zion is in good shape BUT isn’t really producing at an all star level. It’s early but his shooting percentage is down from career averages, he doesn’t hit 3’s, ft 66%. Is he worth throwing the sink at just to move Miles, even if they’d do it? He still is injury prone.

I just can't look at the Zion experience in NOP and say sign me up for that.

I'm not cashing in on him, I'd rather wait for someone else to become available.

I don't think New Orleans would trade Zion to the Hornets without getting Miller or Kon.

I don't seriously want Zion at any real value. The last thing we need is another injury prone guy.

The Miles trade I made above is pretty much the max. Maybe swap the Miami pick for another of the 1sts, but that's it.

If you telling me we can get Zion for Miles and a few picks I'm sorry that's something we should jump on immediately.

probably why it won't happen.

I was even thinking about what we could get for Lamelo, I can see the team going full tank to start again with studs from 2026 draft, but I doubt ideally we would get anything exciting. Would love to get another top 5 pick for the upcoming draft but know one is giving that up for Ball. He's just not proven.

The only team that I could see giving up solid assets (i.e a lightly protected 1st) for LaMelo is Sacramento. I think the Rockets would be interested as well, but the return wouldn't be that great (Sheppard, Vanvleet).

Crazy time... what could we get for Melo AND Miller?

The reasoning is both of them are hurt a lot and have durability issues. Neither of them even lasted 6 games before getting hurt. Brandon because he fell over and somehow dislocated his shoulder. And Melo's ankles are glass.

So... what could we get if we packaged them?
