Re: Free Agent/Trade/Waiver Thread, 2025-26, part 2
Unless Lauri becomes a shot blocking center it makes no sense to trade for him.
Offensively the fit with him at Center would be pretty special, imo, but defensively, especially with White going out, it would be terrible.
Depending on the location of their pick in the offseason (assume top 5) I would be far more on board with trading Brown for Lauri and their pick as well as a future pick.

Brad Stevens just needs to be patient and hope that some team come trade deadline wants to go nuclear and blow up their team and trade some decent players for Anfernee Simons expiring contract. Good luck Brad.

I hold out hope that a current tier 3 center just needs minutes and gets traded here and explodes.

Tier 3 center?
Not sure what that would be..assuming tier 1 is the studs like Jokic, Bam, Mobley, Gobert, Sengun, etc. Tier 2 would be guys like Hartenstein, Kessler, Allen, Towns, Poeltl, Zubac, etc.
Tier 3 is who? Would that be a pickup that we've already made in recent years? (Queta, Tillman, Garza, Boucher)..or maybe you see those guys as tier 4 and there's some other group (maybe guys like Isaiah Stewart, Wendell Carter Jr and Okongwu) in tier 3?
I feel like tier 3 is perhaps not significantly better than the guys we have like Queta/Tillman/Garza/Boucher.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

1 for 1 swap of Simons and Dillon Brooks works.
I think Brooks can help the Celtics.

Suns probably say no..and Celtics still would have a hole at center.

Simons goes to a 3rd team.
If it's really about a Center then my Vucevic and Tre Jones for Simons and Walsh trade is perfect.
Cs get a C and a badly needed 3rd PG.

As far as Centers go…Queta looks legit, and Garza is a serviceable backup. Ideally we have someone better than Queta to start or better than Garza as a backup, but the need is not urgent until next season imo. We might draft that guy, sign as a FA or a trade.
Jordan Walsh > Lonnie Walker and Charles Bassey

What’s the value difference between Simons and Nic Claxton. Claxton makes less and on a declining deal for 2 years after this one. Simons makes 2m more this year and expiring.

Re: Free Agent/Trade/Waiver Thread, 2025-26, part 2
Claxton seems like a negative contract at his salary. He's an undersized center who can't shoot and has the worst on/off on the winless Nets, except for Traore a 19 yr old PG ... Obviously, Claxton had his struggles on the KD-Kyrie Nets shooting from the FT stripe but he still seemed playable as a mobile, rim runner, shot blocker, ball mover etc ... but I dont know what happened, he doesn't seem like a rotation level big anymore to me.
I certainly think Simons has a lot more value just from the perspective of being expiring, let alone actual on court production

Claxton won't really help because he does not fit in with Mazzulla-Ball.
Cs need a big like Vucevic.

Great post in my opinion. Queta is fine as a #2 or 1B to someone’s 1A. In that case Garza would be a really nice #3. Stevens is building this team up in a pretty good way

Re: Free Agent/Trade/Waiver Thread, 2025-26, part 2
Reason why I think Vucevic is a great option is because I think he can be a part of the short-term and the long-term.
If the Cs really have something this season and might go on a deep playoff run, Vucevic would really help, especially against bigger teams.
But if there's nothing to look forward to this season, Vucevic is an expiring, so around 21m comes off the payroll.

Quetta isn't legit and Garza isn’t serviceable.

Once again Simons productive off the bench with 15 points but never played in the last 5 minutes of the 4th against the Jazz.
Just not a good fit.
I'm sure Brad will do something about it.

Queta is legit. But, there should be another Starter-level Center.
That would cure that side.
We still also need another PG.

Yeah, I agree, Queta is good enough.
But it can't be Queta alone.
I believe a guy like Vucevic is a good fit for the Cs.

Anfernee Simon’s and pick for Ja Morant
Hear me out. I think Ja is being ruined on Memphis. He can be maximized on a team like Celtics with Brown and Tatum. Rn, we flat out don’t have a good second scorer and even when Tatum was here, we didn’t have a good third scorer. There’s nothing to really do in Boston to get in trouble unless hs on his Aaron Hernandez. I think Ja is that piece. His trade value is at a severe discount and I honestly feel like we could get him for Simons/pick/filler. Thoughts

Bird would have won 4 rings with that team, in this weak ass era of basketball.

Ja isn't as athletic as he used to be. Also, I question his character and maturity.

He is not worth the trouble. Always injured and doing something stupid...
Do not see him as a Brad player at all...
