Re: Anfernee Simon’s and pick for Ja Morant
Absolutely not. Zilch, Zippo, zero interest.
We went down this part before wirh Kyrie Irving (very talented player but extremely high maintaince with off court issues) that backfired.
If anything we should be trying to get an upgrade at the 4/5 position (Walker Kessler would be the dream
recruit tbh)
Ja Morant is not a team player, never has been.
Another selfish, team sabotaging star like Carmelo Anthony, hard pass.

I don't think the Celtics would do it.
Joe and Ja might end up in a fist fight.

Not to mention that Simon, a pick and fillers is no where near a trade package that would get a trade done

Quetta isn't legit and Garza isn’t serviceable.
Maybe we have different definitions of those terms. Queta is giving us 8/8 with 1.5 blocks in 23 minutes as a starter. And having a solid positive impact. He is a legit NBA starting center. Yes we’d rather have a guy with a bit more versatile skill set and experience but Queta is doing his job and doing it well. Garza is better suited as a third center probably I’d agree but he is giving us 6/4 in 14 minutes and showing some stretch capability. Both are far from perfect, and I view that position as our biggest need but we don’t need to just trade for someone who doesn’t give us much over those guys, and my main point is we are fine for now, but by the time we are ready to compete for next season, then we might need to either have a dude better than Queta to start, or a dude better than Garza to slot in behind Queta.

Queta is legit. But, there should be another Starter-level Center.
That would cure that side.
We still also need another PG.
Yeah, I agree, Queta is good enough.
But it can't be Queta alone.
I believe a guy like Vucevic is a good fit for the Cs.
I like him and yes a great fit but how long does he have left. At 35 yo this year IDK if he is the guy going forward. If you could get him for Simons and minor asset then maybe. And I know you said a guy like Vucevic, so I’ll agree.
I’m not worried about have a team built for this year but for next year and beyond.

From what I've learned the past few seasons, especially under this current CBA, don't plan too far ahead.
After Toronto won the chip in 2019, every team that won a chip from 2020 to 2024 never looked the same after a couple of seasons.
My thinking is if Tatum returns then Vucevic should be an option.
Even if the Cs can't re-sign Vooch, the Cs still have that 22m TPE.
But if Tatum does not return this season then don't bother with Vooch.
Simons expiring or Vooch expiring does not hurt the Cs cap situation.
One thing I'm sure of is Joe will not put Simons ahead of PP on the depth chart.
If that's the case then Simons is the odd man out.
Brad must try to get something for Simons.
But Simons expiring is also not a bad thing.

Ja is still plenty athletic. You don’t just lose all your athleticism in an offseason. I legit think he’s bsing to get traded. He had dunk of the year with a reverse pump on us literally earlier this year

Bird would have won 4 rings with that team, in this weak ass era of basketball.

My goal is to have neither Ja Morant nor Anfernee Simons on this team.

Re: Free Agent/Trade/Waiver Thread, 2025-26, part 2
yikes
to me it stands out how few passes we make, how many possessions is the ball handler dribbles up and shoots a 3 or there is one screening action and Sam (or Derrick or whoever) fades and receives the ball to make an attempt for a 3
i saw some Celtics reporters say limiting passing is important in limiting turnovers so I think our team is trying not to pass the ball, so I don't know what to say, lol ... it's gonna be a long season lol

No, flat out better by every single metric.

Joe and Ja would definitely end up in a fight.
...sign me up, this season needs a new narrative.
Seriously tho, I doubt the Celtics have much interest in Morant, aside from the general interest that every team would have to bring in a premier talent, of course.
The irony is that Joe may be the ideal coach for Ja. If Ja is willing to leave his ego at the door and come to Boston to be a very good beta to the Jays and White, he would add a missing dimension to the team (like, bringing the ball up the floor through pressure, for starters).
But he's not really incentivized to make that change as he's been the top dog his whole career. Plus, the price tag and cap implications too high for the Celtics now, unless they were willing to give up Simons, Hauser, plus maybe Hugo, plus picks.

I don't think Simons has ever gone 5 for 36 from deep over a 7 games stretch.
