I was unaware, but Asante Samuel jr is a free agent because he was waiting to be cleared after some sort of spinal fusion surgery and I guess he’s been clears as of yesterday. Still seems risky, but he’ll be dirt cheap (I would assume) and fill in a whole we desperately need with a lot of talent. And if he proves to be healthy, make Stevenson more expendable than he already is.

Adding Samuel and a DE (especially Chubb for the right price) I think would make us an above average defense at the end of the season (assuming we are mostly healthy). We get a legit pass rusher and our secondary would be top notch (again, if healthy).

Can only remember Forte or Neal Anderson having a performance like that. Sweetness don’t count because he’s the Bears GOAT.

If KM is this dude we have a completely different offense. Kinda changes the season quite a bit.

swift picked wrong game to miss

Exactly. A performance like that may have only been possible because it was against the league’s worst run defense. KM showed some insane power, but until he can replicate this performance against an average NFL run defense, it would be dangerous to assume that he is everything that he’s as legit as he looked. He’s still just our 7th round pick rookie. There was a LOT to love but realistically, KM will need to improve that burst to become an every down starting RB. I bet no one thought he was just an improved burst away from becoming a team’s legit #1 option at RB when we drafted him.

I love this idea, Paltry, because Samuel is still young and has a reputation that scares opposing offenses. They don’t want to throw against him.

Which of the following will Caleb do before hitting Odunze for a TD pass?

1. Kick a 60 yard FG
2. Get 2 sacks
3. Lead Bulls in blocked shots
4. All if the above

I remain wholly unimpressed by Matas and would be very upset not only if we trade up fo him, but if we even draft him at 11

Just imagine- we could have taken Brock Bowers instead, and then used our #10 pick last draft on an Edge, and still had Luther Burden as WR2 or 3.

Speaking of rookie Edge's, Mykel Williams tore his ACL- another defensive player on the Niners out for the year, joining Bosa and Fred Warner. That game may be very winnable for us.

James Odunze: you seem to be on social so maybe a slim chance you are reading this. STOP this social media posting negatively nonsense. You raised a great son and you are only setting him back. Be better than this.

Is this really a big deal? Rome can’t take away his dad’s phone, and as long as Rome has a good attitude, who cares?

LOL- Is this you James?

His tweets are obviously striking a nerve. Probably 7 of the last 10 posts have been about this. And the first post about it put it perfectly: it’s a bad look!

Who should care is Rome and his agent, as this nonsense is brand diminishing. And id bet that they will tell the dad to knock it off.

Are they striking a nerve? I have not seen Rome (or anyone else with the Bears) asked about them. I follow a lot of Bears-related media accounts, and none has discussed them. The only place I've seen them posted is here.

I agree it's a bad look and his dad is a buffoon, but I can't tell how much it's penetrating fan discourse.

It was actually the 2nd-worst run defense in the NFL before Cincy played the Bears. You know who was the worst? The NY Giants. Who do the Bears play this week?

It will be interesting to see whether Swift can go this week or whether we get another heavy dose of Monangai.

Bears have 7 games in a row before meeting SF. By that time at their current rate of injuries, Bears will be lucky to have any first or second stringers (other than iron man Byard) left on defense themselves. Receiving corp is banged up as well and holding on by a thread.

At the rate of injuries SF is going through, they might be fielding high school walk-ons by then!

Ok, well he did not say playoffs. I know technicality and all.

With that said, MY top priority for the team for 2025 was development. Start trending up. If they could make the playoffs, great, but not necessary this year. If they make the playoffs, I won't argue.

I would absolutely start Monangai. He moves the chains. If Swift plays use him as the change of pace RB, use him as a receiver out of the backfield. I can't recall KM getting less than 3 yards except maybe once or twice. Most of his runs were over 6 yards. And I love the way he holds on to the ball for dear life.
