We will have multiple players, free agents.

Parsons is literally getting QB money.

There is around 21m difference between Parsons and Williams. Even If Pickens gets slightly less than Tee Higgins money, that would more than cover it.

The Cowboys were not winning anything with Micah Parsons. In case everyone forgot he played for the Cowboys the last few years and their defense was terrible after Quinn’s defense got embarrassed in the playoffs. It doesn’t make sense to pay a 1/3 of your cap to 1 guy when even with him you’re terrible. The that same money and get 2-4 impactful players (they don’t have to be the absolute best at their positions).

The Cowboys biggest problem (even during Quinn’s seasons as the DC) the last decade has been their run defense. They just traded for “statistically” the best run stopping DT in the NFL. They also traded for a very good run stuffing DT in Clark. They also added a good LB that has been playing on a bad team. That’s 3 solid-elite players for 1 guy that didn’t make your defense tat much better.

Plus they might not be done. Word is they are still trying to obtain Minkah Fitzpatrick and/Bradley Chubb.

And again, these trades are more about next season than this season. They are really too far out of the picture to have any realistic hopes of making the playoffs this year.

Idea is great, I liked the Parsons trade. Execution doesnt really track though.

I'd take Pickens+Williams+1st rd pick for Parsons

Dallas had the worst defense in the NFL last season....WITH PARSONS

Don't get wrong, I love Parsons, he is a top-5 pass rusher

HOWEVER - total sacks this season:

Green Bay - 22
Dallas - 20

Technically it’s Clark/Williams/1st for Parsons. I’d still seriously consider that. It’s not over though because if they make another trade between now and the draft that would be added to the trade.

He was saying Pickens cap hit + QW's cap hit = Parsons cap hit. Like we aren't saving money. And he's right.

But I would still take Pickens and QW and a 1st over Parsons if the cost is the same.

I wasn't even thinking about Clark

It'd be Parsons + 2nd + 3rd round picks, and still wouldnt make any improvements to your defense.

Jets franchise is a dumpster fire like I feel bad you have Garrett Wilson and a lot of JAGS like they are that meme of the Bugatti parked at the trailor park. Hall and McDonald are good but man they are going to have to hit on every pick in the next few drafts.

Clearly Indy won this deadline getting sauce is a great move especially if they stay the course. Philly also won getting Philips takes a lot of pressure off Carter and Davis to eat Alexander if healthy means no more Ringo getting torched and Michael Carter could fit in nicely at safety with DeJean.. Jags also did good and so did both San Francisco and The Rams trying to nab a playoff spot in the toughest division IMHO.

Dallas did well but man is that defense still bad and I guess they don't have to be reminded of picking Mazi over a bunch of others who were better at the time and still are now

And you gave up a first and a second for Williams, also a third for Pickens.

okay combining the Pickens trade -

Dallas gets
1st (unused)
Pickens
Williams
Clark

for Parsons/2nd/3rd

I mean, I like what we got for that. And impossible to say "no improvements to defense" with unused picks. Honestly I think Clark+QW is arguably a bigger impact than Parsons by themselves.

Parsons is overrated and Dallas trading him was always the correct choice

Depending on where the picks are 2nd+3rd is equal to late 1st/early 2nd in draft value charts, so pick advantage you got is at best very minimal. And the cap surplus you used on a offensive player.

The guy you got for Parsons plays a less premium position and undoubtedly impacts the game much less. You'd hope Clark makes up the difference but I dont see how any of these deals helped Cowboys defense on the long run. Maybe they can ask Pickens to play cornerback.

I agree it was the correct choice. Giving up the cap space and draft picks from the deal on other high priced players on the other hand shows they really dont have a plan.

The run defense should be greatly improved. Dallas basically traded the ability to rush the passer for the ability to stop the run. The ultimate goal is not necessarily to save money but to use that money more wisely.

We will see if it was the right thing to do. What we do know is the ability to rush the passer did not result in playoff wins. It wouldn’t have been smart to spend even more money on a guy that was not making a huge difference for the Cowboys.

Yes but adding Clark AND Williams makes a huge difference in the Cowboys run defense. Like I said before the Cowboys basically traded the ability to rush the passer at and elite level for the ability to stop the run at an elite level.

Personally I believe teams should be built from the inside-out so I’m loving that the Cowboys have added 2 elite run stuffers and will still have 2 FRP’s this coming draft.

You really think stopping the run is more important than pressuring the quarterback in nfl year 2025? I dont think many would agree with that.

By the way Parsons might be overpaid but still he is the odds on favorite to win the DPOY, quietly having a great year.

25-26 NFL Defensive Player of the Year odds

Micah Parsons Green Bay Packers <<+190>>

Myles Garrett Cleveland Browns <<+300>>

Aidan Hutchinson Detroit Lions <<+450>>

Nik Bonitto Denver Broncos <<+850>>

Will Anderson Jr. Houston Texans <<+1000>>
