Re: Darryn Peterson
Peterson is goooood. But we already knew that. Just had a crazy burst and drive to the basket (which he can't do according to bigboi)
You IMMEDIATELY see that he is going to be a superstar in the NBA. That he is not the usual star level prospect we've had in the last decade. The Tatum, Cunningham kinds, where you know they are great but not top 5 level great. But with Peterson I immediately see a future MVP, an actual superstar the kind we haven't seen since the Curry, Harden, KD generation. He just has that "it" that I have barely seen with any college prospect the last decade or so. Finally. About damn time we got an american superstar that might reach the heights of the current top 5 guys.

Peterson will never reach Tatum level. Only person that can is Dybantsa

Bird would have won 4 rings with that team, in this weak ass era of basketball.

When was the last shooting guard prospect that was this good? Wade? Luka if you count him as a shooting guard?

As a prospect. We had Wade, Mayo, Harden, Edgecombe, Ivey, Miller, and Green who were highly wanted SGs. We haven't had a special SG prospect since Allen Iverson. Dylan Harper of course. Harper and Fultz. That said, Peterson is a higher tier than them. Probably Iverson. That was the last OMG, SG coming out.

That was not a highly regarded draft class at all. He developed into an amazing player, but he wasn't seen as a can't miss prospect and was really inconsistent in college.

Edwards sucked in college and had played almost no high level competition in high school and really bad intangibles. He was obviously a worse prospect than Jalen Green and (of course) Cade Cunningham.

Good list. Mayo fell off a lot because he wasn't great in college, and didn't it come out that he was a year older than listed? Or maybe I am thinking of Shabazz Muhammed? Miller and Green were pretty well liked, but not in serious contention for the first puck in their drafts. Same with VJ. Harden is the one where I know a ton of people on this board loved him even though he did not have the largest role in college.

Re: Darryn Peterson
He looks good overall, one thing that stands out to me upon first glance is that he might lack a bit of vertical pop.

Fultz? Obviously he didn't work out, but he was extremely polished when he was at college

Think he was touted as a point guard. If you want to say shooting guard, maybe?

Re: Darryn Peterson
He's obviously in contention for the #1 spot but I'm still a bit on the fence whether to expect just a good NBA player or a superstar. Pretty much bust-proof though, I think.
Obviously he's a much better prospect (in part due to being bigger and more athletic) but I also see some Tre Johnson in the way he plays. And a better Tre Johnson – better towards and at the rim, not a potential defensive liability – would still be a really good prospect, but something more probably needs to pop to become one of the best players in the NBA. So I'll closely monitor his playmaking and defense in particular.

Does his frame concern you? He’s not built like I would like

Re: Darryn Peterson
Hes a good player for his age but I honestly dont get the hyperbole of calling him the "greatest sg prospect since xyz". Hes a slighty worse sg prospect than RJ Barrett(who was completely overshadowed by Zion in college. I believe how he carries himself and playing mature style game(doesnt pound the rock all crazy) for his age has boosted his status more than it should. Stylistically he plays like Richard Hamilton and Ray Allen.
*side note RJ Barrett was not meant as an insult as he was highly touted prospect at the time rated by almost all scouting websites as the best prospect in the class.

Too much off ball bs by Self to try to cure the spacing issues. Let him handle the ball more and I’m saying this as a KU fan.

Come on Chokic he’s clearly a better prospect than RJ was. RJ was stiff, rigid and couldn’t really shoot

Looked good last night but also gave a vibe of I am just here because I have to be. Didn't seem bothered by the fact they lost. Looked good from 3 and definitely has a NBA body already. I think his playmaking ability remains to be seen.

He’s a good two way player but I agree. I don’t see the playmaking. And I’ve said this before, he doesn’t have much in between game
