bingo. we don't even know what the roster will look like next year. we are in the middle of a bunch of trade rumors! it's okay to take a breath!

I'm pretty certain Ingram will have the highest usage on most nights when he plays (if nothing major happens this offseason)

Then IQ, Barrett, Scottie will probably be close and it will depend on who has it going on any particular night. Some nights Scottie will be the 2nd option, some nights he might be 4th.

roles and how people are used will be different (to varying degrees) next year. some due to development, fit, roster and the biggest reason will be because they will be trying to win every game. darko will have to coach differently as well.

since this is a scottie thread, i would say the more offensive guys you have around him, the more unselfish he will be.

That sounds like the role he came into and rebelled against. This org already bending over for Scottie and him wanting to be the man, and most attention typically going to offensive players - I don’t see that path here.

Committing to a mistake just because you've been making it for a long time is stupid, though, which makes this a very frustrating thing to watch.

Agree with eastcoast. I think Masai remains steadfast that Barnes is our leader and cornerstone franchise player, more than a primarily defense role player. Darko holds the same belief and called Barnes the face of the franchise, a face of the league, future superstar.

To become that, Barnes cannot just be a defense guy and 3rd option on offense for a mid team. The only way we get past our "mid" status, is for Barnes to become elite on offense and breaks out into a superstar. It's the only way Masai's plan makes sense if Championship is the goal.

Thus IMO Barnes will again be given the chance to be at least a 1b option to Ingram being 1a. He will continue to be the focal point on offense and be encouraged to get his shots. Ingram is here to support Barnes, not other way around. So the bending over for Scottie to be the man will continue.

They aren’t dumb though, maybe they see some of this and it’s part of why they are so eager to get a deal done for a big fish. So they can get a big asset for him before any further decrease in value.

I hope not. I like to think of Masai as a smart man.

To become that, Barnes cannot just be a defense guy and 3rd option on offense for a mid team. The only way we get past our "mid" status, is for Barnes to become elite on offense and breaks out into a superstar. It's the only way Masai's plan makes sense if Championship is the goal.

Don't hold your breath. It isn't going to happen. He can get better, but he will never be elite on offense.

He will continue to be the focal point on offense and be encouraged to get his shots. Ingram is here to support Barnes, not other way around. So the bending over for Scottie to be the man will continue.

Sadly, this is probably also correct. I don't look forward to seeing 15 FGA/g from Scottie again, honestly.

I will come back is there are big trades but with current team and no changes beyond 9th pick here goes.

Pts; 20.9 It would have been higher but BI will have increased usage compared with younger players.
Reb; 8
AST; 6
STL; 1.7
Blk; 1.4. Total Stocks over 3.0
FG%. 50
3fg% 33
FT% 75
If Raptors are over 500 I think SB makes Allstar but not all NBA. If someone is hurt maybe BI joins hime if he is healthy? Tatum out Giannis Paolo Pascal his likely rivals

He's about to take an enormous leap this season, year 4 is usually the year that players take the big step. I expect numbers around 22p/9reb/8as/1.5bl/2st with 57%TS and All-NBA 3rd team and a candidate for DPOY.

counting stats aren't that different. It's the efficiency, intensity and defence. Even if the shooting efficiency comes down to earth, if Scottie maintains the intensity and defence he Is an all-star again this season.

WHEN the shooting efficiency comes down. He aint shooting 48.6% from 3 forever.

I pointed this out in the other thread, but if Scottie even drops down to 35% shooting from 3, which I think everyone would take right now as a huge win, he would only be at roughly 55TS% with everything else being equal.

Scottie still takes to many "hijack" shots in the offence for my liking (he is just making the 3's right now), but as soon as that dries up it'll be open season on Barnes again. He is getting a little bit more assisted shots this year compared to last, but he still is throwing up to many mid-rangers for my liking, and far to many 3 balls (unless of course, he somehow is truly a 40% from 3 guy).

Outside his 3-ball, his offensive game has not changed or improved a whole heck of a lot. Defensively is a different story.

He needs to get his rebounding back up but other than that the counting stats are what I expected this year was definitely more about him being efficient again

Scottie looks like the same player this season.

Most nights you get Scottie 'B'. A few times a month you might get Scottie 'A'. A lot of the time it looks like Scottie 'B-' or 'C+'.
But the season is young. Hopefully we get more Scottie 'A' then Scottie 'C' this season (and the playoffs?)

Right now I'm glad we got Ingram. We seem slightly better now that we have someone reliable as a go to guy in the last seconds of the shot clock. Of course, if he winds up only playing 30 games or something, I'll be super disappointed.

I like seeing Scottie '3', when he is making them.
