Re: Brewers News, Transactions, Trade Ideas
I read somewhere Contreras arby number would probably be $11 million. I guess Mark is rolling the dice it won't be more than $12 million. Maybe they are looking at a 2 year deal. I don't see any way we try to sign him beyond that.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Haha, hope we don't end up arguing for 6 months about whether they alienated Contreras by opting out to save maybe $1m.

Players need to grow up and realize this is the way the arb process works. If they dont like it get rid of it at the next CBA

Re: Brewers News, Transactions, Trade Ideas
I mean he was in the 6M range this year and his batting numbers were quite a bit lower this season. So get it from Brewers side but he did also battle through an injury a good chunk of the season. I’m hopeful the lines if communication were open regarding it and its no big deal internally.
Fan reaction is something. I have to stop reading social media comments haha

Contreras has, at most, one more season in Milwaukee. Who gives a **** if he makes a million less than he could have?

Think Contreras is the heart of this team.
This is where being a Brewers fan under Mark A. sucks. They’ll nickel and dime the dude over one million bucks when other clubs would be signing him to a larger/longer deal.

I said the same thing about Burnes and I'll say the same thing now. Being this stingy just to save that miniscule amount of cash is so **** stupid when it comes to your best players. Miss me with the "hate the system then" BS. This is what gives the big market apologists ammo when we complain about payroll, but I guess Mark just really needs to pocket that extra 800k to use on his new soccer club, huh?

The Mark apologists can't defend this one. Trash.

It doesn't matter, at all. Not even the slightest, tiniest amount.

Why did the team do it if it doesn't matter? It obviously does matter to them.

Because both parties signed a contract and knew what they were doing. Contreras would have had that $12 million had he turned in a better season. Instead he went from MVP caliber to a little above average. Offense got a lot worse and the defense regressed for the second straight year.

No one disputes the year he had, with a mangled finger. It still seems petty to me given the amount.

Correct. And any other top ten market would be signing the guy to a 4/$80 extension or the like (correct me on the contract amounts as you guys are far better with MLB contract values than I am). Then if our farm system catchers pan out, we have a surplus of talent to work with.
Why is the state of Wisconsin paying $500 million in long-term AmFam Field upgrades again? Mark A. just pocketed another $800k perhaps.

Contreras is going to be 30 when his next contract kicks in and he's already shown a significant decline. Did you not learn anything from Yelich? Baseball players are at their best from 24-28. There's nothing worse a small market team can do is pay for past performance.

I'm sure he'll come down and replace Murphy eventually.

I wonder if given the success Pat Murphy has had has made them rethink their long term plans. Most thought Murph was only going to be the manager short term
Or maybe Rickie didnt like coaching as much as he liked being in the front office

Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

If this means Weeks maybe isn't the next manager I'm all for it. Although CC went from a front office role to manager.
