Re: MASTERCLASS: THE SPURS REBUILD
In an 11:05 update from the San Antonio Elections Department, 100% of the votes have been counted, and Prop A and Prop B have officially passed.
Prop A passed with 55.91% of the vote, and Prop B passed with 52.14% of the vote.

Just squeaked through. But a pivotal vote for San Antonio's and the team's future:

The vote for has now passed, but this is a good article outlining the broader benefits of the upcoming build.

Yeah there's a lot going on here. Let's see if the mayor puts in as much effort to work with the project as she did against it. Have to see the words and actions match. And accountability of the build has to be there, but calls for accountability being used as roadblocks is another matter. Let's see how it goes. Right now, it's onward!

Re: MASTERCLASS: THE SPURS REBUILD
Who's going to own the new arena, the team or the county? I noticed that the current arena is owned by the county.
Do they hold any other events than NBA games there?
Will the county get any of the non basketball related revenues for events held at the new arena, which the team doesn't have to share with the league?

Frost Bank hosts the annual Rodeo, and concerts, etc.
Not sure about the ownership breakdown and revenue distribution, good questions.
I do know Spurs are putting a ton of money in it. Lots to sort before we break ground, but this vite was a big hurdle. Feels like the project finally has good right wind at its back.

Re: MASTERCLASS: THE SPURS REBUILD
The non-basketball related income is a huge part of the motivation for these new NBA arenas.
Chase Center hosts many of the biggest concerts now, taking business away from other venues in the area.
Ballmer did the same, buying out the old Forum, which had been used as one of the biggest musical venues in Southern California. As owner of the Intuit Dome, he gets to keep all the revenues, not share it with the league as he has to with Clippers games.
