decent player with the worst two-year contract on the market?

Post#1 » by HornetJail » Fri Oct 31, 2025 8:41 pm

Multi part question:

1) Who has the absolute worst 2-year contract (expiring 2027) in the league right now?

2) Who is the best player on a neutral or negative value 2-year contract?

3) Is one of these players available for a combination of Josh Green, Grant Williams, Tidjane Salaun, Tre Mann, or Miles Bridges (all expiring 2027)?

JGs contract is gross but he has had a great start to the season.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

It really depends, MPJ is someone you could get for that package(tre mann over miles) but Nets might not be inclined if they believe he can return more, as his health is something teams worry. Salaun has been better than last year so maybe they see him as a project.

Kuzma for Josh Green and Grant Wliiams?
Derozan for Grant Willians and Salaun would benefit both teams if I'm being honest. DDR has his flaws, but I can see him being quite useful for stretches where the offense needs someone to take over.

Grant is a solid player! 6MOY candidate. If his contract was 1/2 to 2/3 of what it currently is, everyone would love him. But it's not. So, then you look at what over $30M in cap space can buy you, and you realize a first time GM with limited experience got fleeced by Grant's agent. In contrast, his contract almost matches Jrue's, and we can all agree that Jrue is a significantly better player.

Yeah, I think this is the best option. He'd help the Hornets and the Blazers will be grateful to have him off the books when those two extensions kick in.

Doesn’t he have a player option in 27/28 though. I thought the OP is looking for a 2 year?

For part 2 maybe it’s DDR but that’s probably not what the Hornets are looking for? Maybe MPJ.

I'd take the more useful player and worry about the third year later.

Hmm, I just went off Spotrac's FA year. I wonder if it's bugged or something.

This is exactly why some people are loving what Ayton’s doing so far into the season. Last year and prior. making what he was making, horrendous. $8m/year? Absolutely.

Given how things are looking in Detroit, Caris LeVert probsbly qualifies. We need a real backup PG, not a dude that just comes in and starts firing up shots.
