That sucks for him. Hopefully he makes a speedy recovery. I assume he has to take the qualify offer this summer.

Its Dybantsa draft, they were tanking either way, this just saves them some fines, because I bet soon they would have started load managing Kessler and Lauri, since they are a bit too good.

Hope he makes a full speedy recovery.

This will surely fire the Lauri trade rumor mill into overdrive, right?

They're 3-4 and currently 9th in the West. I don't think they're purposely tanking right now.

However, their 2026 pick is owed to OKC, but is protected 1-8. I bet they do eventually tank again this season.

Markkenen is wasting yet another year of his prime, but hey....he's being paid 46 million dollars. Good work if you can get it.

Haha. It just seems like they're forever tanking. I guess this year they don't have that much of a choice...?

Probably should have signed an extension. Could become a cautionary tale

They were tanking this year anyway, so no big loss for Utah. Even thought they did beat Boston without him, he is best players in team.

If teams would have any cap space he might be a good catch for offer sheet. I do think Utah tries to low ball him in the summer. And even if he is restricted would Utah match?

How did this happen? Was this bound to happen or was it incurred during a specific game?

The NBA lost its best 3pt shooter for the remainder of the season.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

The Jazz did not offer much of any extension.

Yeah Lakers were offering the kitchen sink. Stupid to let your Lakers hate cloud your decision making.

This sucks because I love watching him play and he's been even better this season. It does make the primary goal this year for the Jazz easier to achieve. 8-)

Kessler will still make out quite nicely in terms of his contract next summer. I expect that the Jazz will still offer him an attractive deal as planned after they use up their ample cap space. Worst case scenario is they match virtually any RFA offer he gets.

Good thing for Utah is, with this injury his cap hold should be lower as I believe he won't meet the starter criteria. Should give them more financial flexibility next summer, even if they are re-signing him.

If he's so salty, he can just take the QO, bet on himself and play for whatever it is for a year, and become an UFA the next year. I mean, if he's massively salty and all.

Yes, that's the most likely outcome. Or a sign and trade. Ainge's hardball burns bridges.
