I'm both sad and shocked. He was a smart guy, so he should have avoided whatever it was he did.

This is like people jumping to conclusions on social media when they don't know the whole story. There were issues behind the scenes, in PM's, and violations of TOS. This is not a common occurance where the team actively seeks out bans (this is years and years of reports and issues piling up) strike after strike. He had issues not just on the Knicks board.

Lets not make a martyr. I wasn't specifically involved but to act like the mods are out to get people is wild. Once attacks are made to a mod personally (and we don't get paid to do this) that is where it ends.

Yeah, some of the best stuff on this board was his. But he was unhappy here lately. Maybe he didn't care as much what happened. Either way, despite the criticisms or complaints we all have, this is a good place and I'm not trying to push the envelope just to see how far I can go. Mostly I think everybody takes the Knicks so seriousy they get really upset when something's wrong.

All due respect, unless you knew exactly what went one why wouldn't you understand it had to pretty serious over time for this to happen.

In 12 years you have been nagged once vulgar language (basically you know how to operate on this forum)...you don't know what happened behind the scenes for someone that had a rap sheet 50 times longer than yours. And not just on the Knicks forum (he had run ins on other forums).

i don't feel like a victim nor am i claiming to be persecuted so my rap sheet is irrelevant

i just don't understand how we can permaban an old man that was a pillar of the community long before i ever showed up. as a member of the community it's disheartening. i think that's a natural way to feel

feel free to grieve his presence. that's understandable and expected. but the mod team deserves more respect than treating wingo like he was persecuted. he wasn't.

there are people who have been here as long and longer and haven't done what he did to get banned.

real talk, man really got an unfairly long rope because of how long he's been around.

as mph said, no one gets banned for doing one thing. knicks forum isn't the first forum he was banned from.

we all come here for different reasons and see the role of moderation differently. fair. but there are standards of behavior. safe to say wingo violated them.
RIP magnumt

thanks for everything, thibs.

I truly dont get how you guys (mods) expect us not to be upset when someone we like is nuked and we dont know why

be for real

I think its easy for us to assume he poped off to a mod in their pm about his 3 month stint or his homie clydes ban.

I just think it sucks he is gone cause I enjoyed his presence. RIP to a real one.

You can feel how you want to feel, I feel bad too, he's been here a minute (but people have to own there own mistakes). I won't go into specifics because I wasn't involved and this is the last time I speak on it. I just don't want to make it seem like this what out of the blue because it happened over time and not just in public (in PMs ect). Of course its unfortunate...its also unfortunate that we have to deal with a ton of reports/complaints/personal attacks for moderating (public and pms)/ect.

Its still a forum there are still TOS we have to abide by and things you aren't privy to.

It can be sad and disheartening to us when a guy we liked gets banned, even if it turns out there were good reasons for the ban. Feeling shaken isn't the same as thinking of them as a maryr. For example, there are some families where a person commits a crime and goes away for a long time. The family still loves them and misses them, even if they understand that what they did merited the punishment.

Since we can't know what exactly happened, it's a little harder on us, but I have to say at least hearing from the mods so we know there were reasons is better than not hearing anything. So thanks for that, MPH and JVG.

I hope it didn't come across that I expected you to feel a certain way or not feel anything at all. We have all been here for years...I been on this forum for nearly half my life...I have relationships with a lot of you including Wingo at times. It is sad...but sometimes after years and years of erosion/issues it just comes to a point where someone can't be saved.

no one said you shouldn't be upset about it.

and we've been here before. we don't open the profiles for y'all to see the whole history of reports, incidents, bans, etc. on a given user. and you know i understand why folks have an issue with that lack of transparency.

but this is also really about losing someone you like. there's compassion for that. but we can't just let folks violate because they're liked. and not saying this applies to you, but people get banned for less and nobody cries for them. puts mods in an untenable position, but we're still going to do what we signed up to do -- be part of the community while upholding the quality of conversation and standards of behavior.

this was my assumption of what happened

but the truth is i'm not really sure that a personal beef with a mod should be what gets someone banned. i personally don't operate that way. i don't disrespect people unless they do it to me first but if you take this "job" you probably need to be able to just take it and shrug it off as hard as they might be. because it shouldn't really about you, it should be about if they're disrupting the forum or not.

No idea but im assuming he is because he said he was gonna leave a million times but it only lasted a day or two and he hasn't been around for awhile now.
