I don't even know what this thread is about.
Edit:
Oh, the officials as in referees. I read it as "The official thread".

Ok you want more context, the WNBA refs let a lot of physical play go, Kaitlin Klark gets mauled no calls etc, I’m watching NBA games and an offensive player hits a defender in the face with his elbow it’s a foul against the defender. I saw a podcast with Biron Scott and Trevor Ariza and Ariza said he doesn’t enjoy watching the NBA games anymore because you can’t really defend anymore. He has a point. The NBA games are soft and delicate the WNBA games resemble the 90’s NBA. Am I wrong?

The honest take is that I think this kind of demonstrates why the "play like a girl" and "play like a man" stereotyping tends to be silly. Funnily enough, the referee rule enforcement is an interesting reversal of how societal expectations can impact general gendered behaviour.
Taking of my philosophy/sociology hat though, it's a big reason why I have advocated for the WNBA being incredibly fun to watch. Eventually they will reign it in (hopefully not too far, but some is needed for player safety), but the women in the WNBA are extraordinarily talented and fight like hell. Being a Minnesota Lynx fan was awesome during the Maya Moore era.

Refs call fewer fouls and FTs today than they did in the ‘90s. According to your logic, the ‘90s were filled with sissies (your logic, not mine).
Why would you want to return to that?

you say stuff like this is because you think girls are these soft things that shouldn't play sports. they've always been rough on the basketball court, and not just at the wnba level.
screw these absolute garbage refs

Its not about the number of fouls, its the type of fouls...
