I'm not neccesarily a fan, but I don't mind Schneider. I feel like he's become better as a manager and he's not as bad as some think.
Unfortunately, he's got the analytic nerds feeding him data that detracts from making decisions based on live game factors. Whoever manages the Jays has to deal with the nerds.

Seems like people forget that he's a green manager. Before getting his shot he had way more experience in the minors and no managing experience in the majors. In those years at the helm he showed that he's adaptable and will learn from his mistakes which is the main thing, he had a lot to learn. He still does weird stuff, sometimes it pays off other times not but he's willing to try and learn. That's pretty much all you can ask. On top of that he believes in his players and empowers them which gave us the emergence of guys like Ernie, Barger and Luke's. I love that about him and hope he doesn't change. I'm sure this past journey will make him a better coach moving forward.

9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

I mean in hindsight, sure. But Smith was effectively blocking/standing over the 3B side of the plate when IKF began his slide motion (with his leg only being brought back over for the throw) and the natural inclination in that spot is also to slide to break up any possibility of a double play.
Just not sure it is quite so simple as to say run through the plate in that moment.
One flew east, one flew west, one flew over the cuckoo’s nest.

I really think we would've got a Santander pinch hit grand slam to walk off the world series if he was healthy

Yeah right, he was going to be almost as bad as varsho. He hadn't been Healthy all year, and performed the worst in his career, wouldn't count on him for anything this past year. Hopefully he'll be a good bounce back candidate cause I'm certainly not expecting the same kind of performance from springer, Clement, etc

Don Mattingly reveals why he left the Blue Jays, and how the IKF disaster might have been averted - The Toronto Star
Mattingly also shared his thoughts on the World Series controversy over Isiah Kiner-Falefa’s too-short lead off third base in the bottom of the ninth inning of Game 7, before he was thrown out at the plate by inches.
“The last thing you want is the guy to break on a line drive and get doubled up ... So he’s probably doing the right thing,” said Mattingly.
He did, however, add one factor that probably should have been considered more than it was.
“The only variable that, if you look back at it, we could change a little bit and (Kiner-Falefa) would probably get more (of a lead) is Daulton (Varsho) doesn’t really line the ball to third base, or hit the ball on the left side of the field that much.”
Varsho said not being able to hit the fly ball that would have won the World Series will haunt him. Reliever Jeff Hoffman said he cost everyone a ring by giving up that ninth-inning home run to Miguel Rojas. Mattingly believes those feelings apply to many more Jays.
“If you ask (Kiner-Falefa) now, he’d probably say: ‘Man, I could have gotten another step,’” said Mattingly. ” (Third-base coach Carlos Febles) would say: ‘I probably should have pushed him down the line more.’ And I would say: Man, we probably should have noticed that. Everyone’s going to take accountability ... and I honestly love that.”
