I don't know who takes him, honestly.
At this point, you couldn't give me draft picks to take him. Between the off the court stuff, and he can't shoot. Injury prone. Dealing with his dad could be a thing as well. Big damn contract too. Somebody will do it, but I don't know who, or why.

I put this ALL on the Grizz.
They have seen him everyday, for years. They know exactly who he is. I don't blame Ja. This is who he is, and they absolutely already knew it.
Ja is just being Ja, no apologies. I'm sure there is no surprise that this is where they have ended up
They had plenty of time to get out of this without losing significant trade value. They chose to chase a dream.

And why would teams now risk going for Ja...he'll be 27 soon, his game relies significantly on explosiveness, he's injury prone, and he's far less aggressive as a player compared to his electric early years. All signs point him to declining rapidly like Rose and Griffin, than being able to extend his career.
Why wouldn’t he? The team ans the NBA begged him to just stay away from gun controversy so they can sweep it all under the rug, and he’s continually thrown it back in their face.

I said in the other Ja thread, it's Joe Dumars and the Pelicans. They're the only ones braindead and desperate enough to do it. Dumars won't care about the off-court stuff, he'll double down on the crazy to pair Ja and Zion and the Pelicans still have some picks and easy salary matching players to make a deal happen. Murray, Bey and the Pelicans 27 and 29 FRPs for Ja.
I'm with you tho, there's not anything you could give me to want him on my team. The one thing about his game that could make you overlook his offcourt knuckleheadedness and lockerroom attitude was his athleticism. One of the most electric players in the league for awhile, but now injuries have taken that away and he's stopped dunking or cutting as hard to the rim. Ja is also so arrogant, he's lived off that for years and never actually bothered to flesh out his game... so now that the elite athleticism is faded, he's got nothing to fall back on. His shooting is absolutely HORRID in an era where you can't afford to be a PG who can't shoot. He's not a good defender, he's sloppy with the ball... and he's still acting like he's a superstar diva.
He's in his later Wizards John Wall era after the wheels started to come off, so it's only downhill from here. Athleticism doesn't come back, and there's no reason to think Ja is suddenly going to mature up.
The only teams that are going to take him are either desperate or dumb, and usually a combo of both.... sooo..... JOE DUMARS.... COME ON DOWN!

its kinda interesting. Two undersized playmakers that create well and dont really guard a position and are better suited guarding an area. both provide below average spacing, and are good in transition. This could be on offense a lebron-wade lite with the right glue guy at the other position.
if the pels could get morant without giving up jones and trey murph theyre in great shape

Picks in the future.
I mean, they have a good roster otherwise, they just keep building around zion and hes never there.
I would caution against thinking his athleticism is gone. He might be supressing his value intentionally. butler, carter, james harden, list goes on of guys who pulled this tactic.

Firing Taylor Jenkins ended this era. Time to blow the whole thing up.

This is certainly a possibility, but I'm not also ready to say it's a 1:1 match. From what I've heard from media, Ja still loves Memphis the city and considers it home, he might be beefing with some of the people within the organization, but so far there hasn't been a single word that he's interested in getting traded or going somewhere else like you normally get in these situations. He also publicly said the reason he doesn't dunk anymore is flat out because of his injuries.
Again, it just reminds me of Derrick Rose and John Wall so much in their last few years with Chicago and Washington. So you may be right, it's not a non-zero chance, but my money is on his athleticism dipping.

I said it last season, I got chastised for it:
Ja Morant is not a player you want to build your franchise around and is not a good leader.

Nah, I can't agree with this. He's 26yo and he's been with the franchise for 6 seasons. It is completely reasonable for a franchise that is investing in a young player to expect a growth in maturity. He's done the opposite, or so it seems; at best, has not grown and has remained stagnant. Either way, it's not acceptable.

So in other words, the model that got Indiana a game 7 of the Finals and perhaps would have seen them win it had it not been for their best player's injury isn't something Ja subscribes to. Got it.

The best place for Morant is Minnesota. Where he is away from Memphis. Edwards is the unquestioned leader of the franchise and has shown to make it work with "problem players" (Gobert, Randle) before. Minny also needs a PG. Just seems like a perfect fit.

Gobert and Randle have not been anywhere near the nuisance Ja has been in that locker room. I hate the idea of Ja in Minnesota, not to mention what it'd take to get him, even if value is compromised.
The only place I can think of where he might be able to rejuvenate himself is Miami, because if anyone can whip him into shape and help him develop the right attitude, it's Spo and Riley, with the likes of Bam on the court keeping him accountable too. They won't settle for any of his garbage.
Other than that, I do agree that the Pels are a team reckless enough to make an unwise move for him. Perhaps Orlando, but I hope they don't.

I don't watch sports to see adults manage children's egos. Morant should demand a trade while playing to the best of his abilities under a coach he disagrees with. He's 26 making $40M and this childish behavior is ridiculous.

Apparently, it's just **** the Memphis fans who support the team because he is sad. Gimme a break. Everyone else is playing hard but that's too hard for you because of that mean ol' coach from Iceland.

A player/coach fallout happens a lot in another league but you mostly don't hear or see the messy fallout. The NHL. The players there mostly still give 100% because that is the expectation from teammates and fans. Apparently it's acceptable now in the NBA to not give 100% on the court because a player's feelings were hurt.

Maybe he didn't quit on his team, but perhaps just that bad nowadays *shrug*. Either way, it's a bad look for him, and how he doesn't realize this is incredible, and even more incredible is his circle and fans defending it

Rudy was not all that liked in Utah. Randle was getting into altercations with teammates on court in NY. Miami does not have the pieces to get a player of Morants value. They try to get a star every year.

I'm a grizzlies fan and don't like Morant never have.
However this coach has been nothing but hot garbage.
Every single player in the team doesn't like the system Every one is angry at the coach .
As a fan is getting hard to watch seeing your team making hockey style substitutions every 3 minutes.
