Utah - LAL - Phoenix - Toronto

Post#1 » by Godaddycurse » Thu Nov 6, 2025 7:02 pm

Shuffling some minor pieces around:

Toronto trade: Agbaji
Toronto receive: Richards

LAL trade: Kleber, Knecht
LAL receive: Agbaji, Niang

Phoenix trade: Richards
Phoenix receive: Love, future 2nd

Utah trade: Love, Niang, future 2nd
Utah receive: Kleber, Knecht

Why for Toronto: duck the tax, add a 3rd string big
Why for Phoenix: duck the tax
Why for LAL: add a wing defender
Why for Utah: take a flyer on Knecht for cheap

can replace kleber w/ vincent if preferred? add 2nd(s) or cash as needed

I would rather just use the 2nd round pick than trade for Knecht, but there is nothing offensive about it for Utah. For Phoenix, ducking the tax makes sense and they have some center depth, though it is a rookie and a frequently injured guy. LAL gets too good of a deal, I think Agbaji has quite a bit more value than Knecht.

Agbaji is off to a slow start in Toronto w/ minutes crunch and also is pending RFA, so i thought the value is close if not in Knecht's favour. Maybe LAL owes some cash

LAL owe a 2nd to PHX, but good shuffle IMO.
Defense wins draft lotteries!
Fortune favours the bold, so it ducked Nico Harrison.

Value is fine. Lakers can’t really trade for an expiring with the rid players needing new contracts. Agbaji Would be a rental likely

Yep I also think it looks good. Not going to quibble over who owes who a 2nd, just assume your team gets and doesn't give the Hartford Whaler 2nds.

Lakers in an odd situation where Knecht will be a cheap body under control body for at least 2 more years needed to fill roster spot, Agbaji is a better player objectively now, but Lakers are unlikely to retain him, due to their max FA dreams. Personally i would pull the trigger, swap of fringe rotation players with Agbaji filling more of a need (athletic guard who can defend and not be utterly worthless on Offense), especially with the arrival of LaRavia making Knecht pointless. Kleber is just a corpse, Niang might have some juice left in him, but if he doesnt, it doesnt affect the calculus much. If Lakers had to fork out a SRP i'd just pass then.

Suns have no good reason to do this.
