Trips like these are if they leave they probably arent signing there.

Gotta just sell him on the prospect of immediate and prominent playing time on a contender

I wanted Samuel before he was medically cleared because I believe we could have signed him to a Stokes type of deal of 1/4.

Now there is going to be competition and I'm not overpaying for him. Too much money wrapped up in Hobbs for no reason.

Justis Mosqueda on this morning's Pack a Day podcast reported 2 things

1. Asante Samuel Jr wants a guaranteed starting spot wherever he signs

2. The Packers were very close to trading Luke Musgrave to either Denver or Jacksonville for a 5th round pick but the Tucker Kraft injury took that off the table
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

Our OL needs to block better on runs

YBCON/ATT

1. Jahmyr Gibbs (DET) - 3.5
2 James Cook III (BUF) - 3.1
3 Jonathan Taylor (IND) -2.8
4 Bijan Robinson (ATL) - 2.4
5 De'Von Achane (MIA) - 2.3
6 Javonte Williams (DAL) -2.2
7 Christian McCaffrey (SF) -2.1
8 Josh Jacobs (GB) - 1.7

But his YACON/ATT need to be better as well (2.0)
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Wasn't Banks supposed to fill the run game "road grader" role? He can't stay on the field for accumulating injuries though

Some injury update news:
https://www.acmepackingcompany.com/green-bay-packers-injuries/74057/packers-marshawn-lloyd-saw-specialists-over-injuries

... “Lloyd has met with more specialists to help figure out imbalances in his body that may be causing the hamstring and groin injuries that have sidelined him.”

The Packers have a close relationship with UW-Madison, where the team sent both receiver Christian Watson and cornerback Eric Stokes to evaluate a series of injuries.

...Beyond just Lloyd, Silverstein added that defensive ends Brenton Cox Jr. and Colin Oliver are both close to returning, but that the team won’t open their practice window until they’re needed.

...Oliver apparently had surgery on his hamstring, even though head coach Matt LaFleur stated at the start of training camp this summer that Oliver’s injury was not thought to be a long-term issue. Clearly, that was a misevaluation on Green Bay’s end.

...Per Silverstein, the target date for receiver Jayden Reed to return to the field is around Thanksgiving. At the moment, Reed’s foot injury has recovered fully, and the team is just waiting on his collarbone to be cleared.

Lloyd, Cox and Reed are all on the Packers’ injured reserve, while Oliver is on the physically unable to perform list.

Getting Reed back will be nice. If his foot is healed he can at least do cardio to get back in shape. Not football shape but it's something.

That's great and Havrisik had a couple of nice kicks but his track record isn't good. But if McManus is healthy he hasn't been good this year either

Only half kidding, but send McManus down to the leg repair shop in Madison.

I wish they would just put McManus on IR. I don't think his leg is fully healthy and rushed himself back, so he didn't become an afterthought. Plus, I'd like to see if Havrisik can kick in cold and windy conditions as the weather starts to turn.

McManus doesn't want to lose his job. He knows that if he goes on IR and Havrisik shines, he's out of a gig. They need to take that decision away from him and have them compete for the gig.

Gary looking bad again whenever someone digs deeper. He’s never had a season with double digit sacks, and his sack total is only up this year because he’s cleaning up after Micah.

Beyond this, I really question what value “pressures” truly have. If we’re so great at creating pressure shouldn’t opposing QB’s be throwing the ball up for grabs? We have exactly 3 INT on the season, with ZERO by all of our cornerbacks combined. So much for pressures.

The commenters have already poked the obvious holes in the dumb article. Due to Parsons, Gary is being held to a higher standard here because teams are game planning around getting the ball out quickly.

Pressures don't just lead to picks or sacks. They also prevent quarterbacks from progressing through all of their reads, which is especially important for preventing big plays from longer developing routes.

Gary's on pace to finish this season with 15 sacks, nearly 40 pressures, and all while still grading out as one of the best run defending edges in football (12th in run defense grade per PFF). That article is junk and it's crazy the kind of standard that he's constantly held to.

I mean, Gary never turned into an "elite" pass rusher in the same mold as Parsons or Hendrickson or Garrett, etc, as was hoped when we picked him. He's been decent, but he tends to stat pad with a couple big sack games every year, and is pretty quiet ortherwise. Part of that is because we didn't have any other great pass rushers throughout the past few years - post Zadarius leaving, that is - so teams could double him or chip him at will.

But one of the main reasons I was excited about getting Persons is because of the potential effect on Gary. I figured that he would be an elite second guy that would benefit tremendously from having Parsons draw so much attention away from him. Now he's not the guy getting doubled or chipped. It's Parsons. He has free run at his tackle. And it's been pretty evident that he's benefited tremendously from that this year.

Someone in the comment section of the article summarized it pretty well I thought:

Rashan with Joe Barry = high pressure, poor run defense, middling sack #s
Rashan with Hafley = low pressure, excellent run defense, poor sack #s
Rashan with Hafley + Parsons = low pressure, excellent run defense, high sack #s

What we have going now might just be the optimal Rashan Gary setup.

My only issue with Gary is that he doesn't play enough snaps.
