Who will be the Rockets' ASG representative?

Post#1 » by Jadoogar » Thu Nov 6, 2025 8:17 pm

They have 3 legit candidates for an allstar spot. Obviously they could get multiple but the West is pretty stacked. So for this exercise, if you could only pick one, who would you go with?

(Pts/Reb/Ast/Stl/Blk/TO/FG%/3p%/FT%)

Sengun - 22/10/7/1.6/0.9/3.6/47/43/74

Amen Thompson - 19/6/6/1/0.3/2.6/50/18/68

Durant - 24/5/3/1.1/1/2.3/47/37/87

Should they even have a rep yet? No wins against a team above .500. Need to see more

If I could only pick one, I'd pick all three.

Sengun deserves it. Durant will get it. If Durant gets in and the Rockets are top 3 in the west Sengun will also get in. Durant will get the fan vote. Sengun will get the coach vote.

This is a weird question because it's an absolute lock Sengun will make it since he's flat out better and more famous than he's ever been. Europe watched him beat Jokic and kick Giannis out of a tournament this summer. Turkey has a population of almost 100 million. This season he will also get votes from every single KD fan. He's on a clear title contender. It's one of those situations where you'll be annoyed by just how many votes he gets.

KD will get in because he's on a contender, his performance will be better than last season and he's playing in a significantly bigger market. He will also get a vote from every single Sengun fan.

The only question is whether Amen will make it. If we're #1 seed at that time, coaches will vote him in.

Sengun will be there for sure.

P.S. Sengun beat Jokic, but he didnt kick him out of the tournament, they played during group stage.

Durant's scoring average always goes up to 26-27, so I doubt it will stay at 24 for long...
Their chemistry will improve, so Durant will get more cheap buckets in the flow.
In fact Durant was averaging 26.2 until his 11 point game @ Memphis 2 days ago.

Depends on how the teams are picked with the International vs. US thing.

But I think Thompson gets in either way. Houston is a huge city and has a lot of international fans + Thompson has a lot of respect among coaches and players around the league.

The Sengun question is a little more iffy, even though he may be Houston's best player. If there's a limit on international bigs, he's up against Jokic, Giannis, and Wemby. Only 8 players get onto the international team.

There's no bigs, it's just frontcourt and backcourt iirc.

they're gonna be a 2 All Star team and it's gonna be Sengun and KD

KD will get in as a starter, he will be selected by both the votes and players

Sengun will be off the bench, or he MIGHT even be a starter depending on what angle the NBA goes with.

Regardless of record, all the team stats say the Rockets are an elite team this year.

They score the most points, they rebound the most, they lead the league in 3p%, they have the highest Net Rating, they have the #1 offense, they are tied for the 5th best defense/ Their strength of schedule is actually tougher than OKC's so far. They should comfortably win 50+ games this year.

It will probably be Sengun and KD because their record will likely be good enough for 2 all-stars. It's hard to imagine KD doing his thing as usual and not making the AS team

Rockets only getting 1 all-star would be crazy if no one gets hurt. They should get 2 minimum.

I was pretty much thinking this same exact thing, provided they have a good record by time voting comes along.

I’m guessing both Sengun and Durant make it, especially if the Rockets stay in the top 5 out West. Durant is an obvious add, but they need at least 8 international players, and Sengun has to be in the top 8 this season for foreign-born all-stars.
