Derrick White would be amazing.
He's a little older than I'd like, but I think his size and game should help him age gracefully. He could be a viable starter for 5 more years potentially.
The problem is we're both 1st apron teams and "For first apron teams, the aggregate incoming salary cannot exceed the aggregate outgoing salary."
So I guess we'd need to find some miracle combination of salaries that would match up precisely. I wonder if the new CBA stuff is gonna make teams try to negotiate more simple, round figure contracts to make salary matching easier in trades.

I feel like Houston would want a real PG if they're making a big trade. Also I think they're sending out way too much. I wouldn't like it if I was a Rockets fan. For MN, could be an interesting shake-up. For Memphis, I'd jump all over that. That'd rejuvenate their franchise overnight.

This might be true, however, they are giving up Sheppard, Eason, Smith Jr, Adams for Randle and DD....in a vacuum, DD is worth Sheppard and Eason and Randle is worth Smith Jr and Adams. A PG could easily be rerouted to Houston or they could slide Donte in as a combo guard with Thompson who is currently running point.

So is there any shot Indy would let TJ McConnell go, or is he too beloved there? Conley's expiring and TJ Shannon as the sweetener? Conley fills out the season as a reliable, durable vet leader. Shannon fits their super high pace run and gun style to a T.

Me too. but, I wonder if Suggs descending contract 35, 32.4, 29.6, 26.8, 26.7 can work for MIN as well. And I like Penda and Bitadze a lot. although not sure if MIN can re-sign Bitazde.
At least he's under contract next year for only 7.6M.

I'd love to add him. But I don't know why the Bulls would trade him.
He's a major part of their rotation, playing 27 MPG and thriving. And only making 7.5M.
They will have a roster crunch when White comes back, but I'd move Coby before Ayo 10 out of 10 times.
They have a lot of depth at guard position. With Giddy now blossoming, White back soon and potentially carrying on from where he left off last season, they might be tempted for the right price. This would be an awesome addition.
In saying that you are probably right, they sell high on Coby white before he expects another pay day.
I would absolutely look to dump Coby. He's not going to be worth what he demands (and some stupid team gives him) next year.
do you guys like Coby White? He is kinda the odd man out of the Chi rotation and they probably won't extend him, so it behooves them to move him out before the deadline. We could do something like Shannon/Lenny/Conley for him. They'd get a couple young pieces to play with and veteran leadership. It'd solidify our PG spot a little better, but would also push us even further away from our rapidly dwindling defensive identity. Our 3 point splasharooni identity would be tip-top though. I don't know what his value is though. To me, DDV is a clearly more valuable player than Coby White because he's a better defender and more efficient shooter and I wouldn't include him in a trade proposition. I think Conley/Shannon, maybe Miller or a 2nd rounder is about right, but I know a lot of people value the counting stats he put up last year more than I do.

Rockets would never do that, those guys are way too important.

I'd agree with you, the only caveat being that we don't have to send anything beyond players and that we don't create another hole by plugging the PG one.
Other holes are much easier to plug

I’d take him, although I’d prefer a more defensive oriented guy since that’s the end we’re really struggling at. The bigger problem is that we’d be giving away real assets for a likely rental. I think he originally asked for 30m/year, which doesn’t fit in a payroll unless we move Naz or Randle.

Ouch, I have missed that! Goga has descending contract too! Then it makes Suggs, Bitadze and Penda package even more intriguing for me.

No way, maybe if you ignore all other factors. I would argue Smith Jr and Eason alone would be worth more than both of those guys, much less adding Sheppard.

Re: Trade Talk (Part 18): Early Season Panic Edition
I want LaMelo Ball. Tough words to say out loud. But he could be the answer now and longterm for Wolves.
I think his attitude is a plus with the roster makeup Wolves have now. He is hard working, but has swagger that the roster (outside of Edwards) seems to be lacking.
His defense needs work of course. Wolves can help him there.
To 3rd Team: Randle/DDV
(Pistons, 76ers, Miami, seem like good candidates)
To Hornets: Dilly/Assets and salary from 3rd team
To Wolves: Melo Ball/Bench big to backfill Randle

I listened to an eloquent fan who made some good points that we should trade Randle over Naz
1. His trade value will never be higher
2. He doesn’t play well against OKC
3. He’s 31, and not part of the longterm direction of the team.
I have always been in favor of keeping Randle, but these points seem true to me.

Another point that I have personally considered....Randle is maximized here in part because he has a history with Finch who knows how to use him best. In another organization, they may not get the same value for him. We could be trading him at A- or B+ value for us but could immediately depreciate to B- or C+ value wherever he is traded to. So if we can get a higher trade return that maybe equates closer to what he is here than what he would be, that could be a win.

I love Ball's talent. Don't love how he treats the game. Worried about his health. Don;t think Finch is the right coach for him at all.
That said, unless the "assets from a 3rd team" are HUGE, there is no way they even listen to a deal with Dilly as the key component.

I would listen to Randle offers, but I would need a pretty sizable return.
I'm also not convinced Naz will ever be a starter on a contender.

I think I’d trade both, believe Naz’s value may never be higher either.

Then there are those that have been meh (Like Rob) but might just need a new team and change of scenery, Reed Sheppard?, Devin Carter? Hawkins?( might be a sg) Maybe Rob and Reed need to play together again to both be effective .
I think there is a lot of merit in this strategy, and I would contend that it was arguably the biggest success stories here in recent seasons in Nickeil Alexander-Walker. Obviously at a different level, but I really like targeting undervalued assets near the end of their rookie contract or early in a cost-effective extension. Also, I personally am looking at how I feel the team wants to play, not necessarily how they could pivot.
A few names that I believe fit this mold. Not saying all of them will be available. Also not sure some of them would be able to step in and contribute immediately, which is probably what the team needs most of all. So I think patience is truly important as much as anything, at the end of the day.
