Luka has been the best per game but MVP is a commulative award, he played just 4 or 5 games..has he been better in those 4-5 games than guys like Jokic, Wemby, SGA or Giannis have been in 7 or 8 games? hardly..

I believe it's a lot more easier. If Lakers are top 2 and Luka is the best scorer in Nba, he will get it easily. Nobody will look if someone played more games or have better +/-. Luka and Lakers will be the main story.

How will Lakers be top2 is another question.

Luka isn’t top 3. The team wins without him. Austin Reaves is a superstar and puts up similar numbers to him when Luka was out. His mvp case isn’t top 3.

the Lakers won't be top 2 and Luka's raw numbers will go down a bit once LBJ returns

Luka's games played since 19/20 season: 61,66,65,66,70 and 50 last season. in a couple of those years he wouldn't have even qualified for the award under the new rule and having already missed 4 games this season, with only 10% of the season gone, he needs to play in at least 61 out of the remaining 74 games, so that makes those missed games more relevent

Lakers are playing safe because he played the whole summer. He could easily played all games. His raw numbers can go down a lot and he'll still be the best scorer. Yes Lakers being 2nd might be difficult, but I believe they and Luka looked a lot better than last year, so it's possible.

sure, but they're gonna continue playing safe all season long. yeah, he'd probably win the scoring title with LB that's true enough

and yes, it's def possible that they'll finish 2nd. I doubt it personally but it's certainly a possibility :)

I don't think seeding matters that much, if Luka will have his best season and will play enough games, he can win it from a #3 seed as well (for instance). if he'd have enough big moments and games, compared to his competition etc.

and even if he does hit 65, that just means he qualifies, it doesn't mean that he wont be penalized for it. Luka is not good enough to play 65 games and beat an SGA/Jokic who play 75+ games

He'll never win MVP, we've seen him produce some insane stats and he almost always went backwards in MVP standings. It became a running meme among Mavs fanbase because it was always so ridiculous to see that. I mean, even now, averaging 40ppg with almost a triple double while shattering even more NBA and Lakers records, yet fans like yourself don't even see him as top3.

But on the other hand, SGA has insanely stacked team, a lot of help offense and defense, yet if you throw that as an argument it suddenly doesn't hold any value. But when Luka gets slight help, suddenly his MVP rating gets de-valued. So yeah...

Even more so as he is long overdue.
He really should have been the MVP two years ago, I still can't believe they didn't give it to him with the historical season he had, let alone putted him at 3rd place

Luka deseeves the MVP w/o playing a single game, just watch the Mavs post trade.

Assuming they did the Murray + all bench players lineup crap and it failed spectacularly? Cause now theyre actually staggering like a normal team and instantly built lead back up.

Wemby back down to earth a little. This is why people shouldn't make hyperbole statements after a handful of games. I'm not saying he isn't a top 5 player, but people were acting like he passed Jokic as the best player already without a doubt.

If the Pistons can remain atop the East for a while Cade should at least be one of the 9 guys in the poll.

Joker and Giannis at the top it seems, everyone else following. These two have been on a crazy run.
