He's an interesting player. Everyone is super-excited about his volume, but he's been kinda bleh from an efficiency standpoint while maxing out his volume. He was much better when he was rolling as a second option (compared to the last two seasons). He's obviously on an insane heater right now, but that's going to cool off eventually. It would be really nice if tonight was the first night where we saw that, his 3 abandoning him as it regresses to the mean xD

He would be really nice for our us, no doubt.

I see Mogbo is back with the team after his g league assignment with Jak out. Hopefully we can beat them in transition
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Yeah i love Maxey but he cant really absorb true first option usage. Even right now hes at a career low 2pt% but is shooting 48% from 3 on 9 attempts a game. If that goes down he'll probably settle back to his previous seasons of slightly below average efficiency on high volume. Which is a useful player but definitely a tier below the true offensive stars.

He is drawing a lot more fouls this year though which can probably help offset the efficiency drop when his 3 point shot stablizes to something in the 37-38% range.

It's tough, especially for smaller guys.

Obviously, he's still applying big offensive pressure regardless, it just isn't ideal for a properly sustainable winning situation.

Yeah, if he's able to ratchet down the volume, a lot of what he's doing should still carry over into a strong performance on the balance of the whole season.

I don’t know if playing Embiid = edge for Toronto

He’s not very good anymore. He’ll get his points but we’ll take that.
I mean he’s still gonna dominate whatever we throw out tonight I’d guess.

Got PTSD from watching Maxey cook Fred in the past.

Has Shead ever guarded Maxey before? I can't recall...

I think they go hand in hand....imo the winning is as sustainable as Maxey's health & ability to go full throttle game in and game out (assuming he has a good enough roster around him to compete).

He basically needs to act/play something like a "poorman's Steph", obv he's not as focused on the shooting as he's not THAT level of shooter but he's faster off the dribble and maybe make up for some of it in that way. But if he could sustain his health & conditioning, with the right defensive pieces etc, I think PHI could be a legit contender if constructed the right way. I doubt there's many takers for Embiid but I think you can win with Maxey, but they just need to create a different roster & system to maximize what he can do.

Right, but we know this is unsustainable, so it's more of a "when" than an "if" at this point. And it isn't as if he's especially durable to begin with, either.

I don't think Steph is the comparison. Maxey is all on-ball, he's younger and more athletic and as you say, not the same kind of shooter. I don't think of Maxey as a #1 option on a contender, either. He hasn't scaled up in a way consistent with that sort of player at higher usage. But the Sixers can almost assuredly build a good team, like a solid second round-exit kind of team, around him. He's just too small and not a transcendent player, you know what I mean? He's not Shai (who is larger anyway) and he's not Steph, and it takes a truly spectacular player to be that focal piece for a title at that size.

He's good, though. He'd be a magnificent second option on pretty much any team. And if you imagine him next to someone like, say, Jokic? Good Lord. If Joker had Maxey instead of Murray, Denver would be laughing for years.

I don't understand the rollercoaster minutes we're distributing. How does someone go from DNP to starting on a back-to-back?
