Haha... For real.

Not every team asserts dominance like the returning OKC champions. We're not the same teams.... We don't have the same players..... We're all on different paths. No use getting out of sorts because the first 8 games haven't been great. When these individuals hit their stride ... And hoping that happens soon.... We will see the public outlook.

We aren't making our expectations.. . Yet .... But they are a work in progress still... No matter how you cut it. The more they play.... The more they get experience.... The more they tweak to get it right.

Are they really sour on Bane? People on here are so quick to defend criticisms like we're talking about their kid or something. Anybody would be disappointed (none more than Bane himself) but pretending everything's going swimmingly two weeks after people are (equally ridiculously) calling for a 60 win season a year after dragging the league's worst offense to the play-in...that's silly.

I don't expect or want to trade Paolo or Suggs but it's a lot more interesting to discuss than checking in 5x per day to confirm that "everything's gonna be just swell".

messing around with the Spotrac trade machine and it shows us holding DEN's 2026 frp...still a side effect of Gordon trade...this isn't correct, is it?

what tradable frps do we presently hold?

ORL sends: Paolo Banchero ($41,500), Jonathan Isaac (14,500), Goga Bitadze (7,600)
UTA sends: Lauri Markannen ($46,113), Walker Kessler ($20m per ext SnT)

Does ORL get a frp back as well?

Kessler, WCJ, Moe
Lauri, Penda
Franz, TdS
Suggs, AB
Bane, Jase (maybe Tyus sticks around?)

We do not. We currently don't have a 2026 first at all. Denver's pick conveyed in 2025 (Jase) so Denver has sole rights to their 2026 pick.

ORL sends: Paolo Banchero, Jonathan Isaac
MEM sends: Jaren Jackson Jr., John Konchar, MEM 2026 frp (Top 6 protected)

JJJ, WCJ, Moe
Franz, WCJ, Penda
TdS, AB
Suggs, AB, Konchar
Bane, Tyus, Jase

Is JJJ a better anchor next to Franz...defensively and as a floor spreader to let Franz cook? Who will rebound - could JJJ at 4 and WCJ at 5 be a better fit with WCJ focusing on his defense and regaining his double digit rebounding? How about Moe at C with JJJ at PF?

just noticed the second half of your post. If I'm understanding stepien rules correctly, we can literally only trade our 2032 first right now.

Paolo is a superstar in my opinion...but, could he bring back:

Walker Kessler AND Lauri?

Figure Kessler re-ups for $20m x 4 and add Isaac and Goga to balance salary.

Paolo, imo, is unquestionably the most valuable piece here...it's just a question of fit. I don't know if we dare ask for a pick on top.

Kessler, Lauri, Franz, Suggs, Bane with AB, Moe, WCJ, TdS, Penda, Jase off the bench?

NBAdraft.net doesn't show Orlando having Denvers pick next year. Magic had Denvers pick this past draft and used it to draft Jase.

I love Paolo and I was impressed by Franz performance without Paolo. I would need to learn more about Walker & Lauri. Unquestionably indeep, Paolo has an potential "IT" factor that is very hard to pass up. Well only know maybe by year 7 if he just "is whom he is".

I didn't want to hurt your feelings, I just wanted to say Lauri was never in playoffs, he is in his 9th year. Kessler is very injury prone and he is already out for season and proved nothing in 4 years. If your post wasn't a joke or a bait for attention you are the douchebag. Man seriously? We don't know what we have with Paolo... He is only 22 years old and he already proved he can play high level basketball..... Your fantastic trade idea look like you have a golden ring you just don't know its a diamond or a glass in it, but its a golden ring and you want to trade that for an apple and a pear. I'm not that hungry thanks.

Jaren Jackson Jr is very intriguing. A defensive big that can protect the rim. But is Memphis going to rebuild? Or are they selling off all their core including Ja?

We will see. JJj is going to be a target the whole league is watching and mark it. The question is on the Grizzlies if they want to start over with the emerge of rookie Coward.

My summer target (Royce O'Neal) is still doing well .

Unfortunately, they have many C now so no more interest in goga

Idea of Jaren Jackson for most teams sounds better in their head than it actually is. Him Bane and Ja never achieved anything because all 3 of them are so fundamentally flawed. I wrote once in GB that Grizzlies biggest problem, and biggest problem teams face with max contracts on not- max-contract- worthy players is expensive compensation to fix their issues.
Ja couldn't shoot- they needed to overpay Bane, who is nowhere near max contract guy.
Bane can't create own shots = they needed Ja to make dribble penetration.
Jackson couldn't rebound or play C = They needed to always find two great Cs
Center + Jackson+ Morant = No spacing
No spacing fix = expensive shooters (Bane)

Final result= expensive first round exit team with no ceiling.

He has $50M a year contract and yes he is excellent defender.

But

He is one of worst rebounders i have ever seen in my life. For that very reason you either need elite PF rebounder ( nobody in current NBA has one ) or you need to play Center next to him.
Once you slot him at PF, his ugly a** offense becomes jarring and hurts your team.
He is 6'10 guy who is too slow to attack off dribble, too unskilled to play with back to basket, unrealiable shooter to have him at spot ups.

How impossible he is to use is best viewed in playoffs. 52,3% TS player on 23% usage & 16 ppg. Last year vs OKC they had him isolated on elbow on 6'2 Caruso, and what he did? Whooped his way to a rim? Nop. Always tried to dribble around guy who is foot shoter and gives up like 60 pounds. Every possession was turnover.

Jaren Jackson jr is not that much better or different player than Okongwu, who plays for like 30% of his contract, doesn't have ego, has no issues playing off bench and actually can rebound to play C from time to time.

If you look at some of Grizzlies stats early in season, Coward is already more impactful than both Morant and Jackson

Jackson simply isn't worth that money. Fastest way to new rebuild is to overpay role players. Jackson might be in DPOY conversations, but many DPOY players don't make nowhere near max contracts. Dyson Daniels plays for $25M , Zubac plays for $18M, Camara $20M etc.

Agree...even as I was writing it, I was remembering his total lack of rebounding...I just keep looking for the perfect fit next to Franz and thinking that including Paolo means NOBODY in the league is off the table. But JJJ is way overpaid and really an elite role player that needs support in some pretty significant areas. I don't value him much differently than Ja...both are high-profile, elite skill players with some big holes in their games...at least Ja can run an offense, whereas JJJ is somewhat at the mercy of his teammates and even his 3pt shooting is perhaps overrated.

Yes...this is me critiquing my own trade...I just like to get people thinking and talking, including myself - it leads to better ideas.
