Is Ja Morant a tier 3 star or tier 4 at this point?

Sounds shocking, but here is a comparsion of their best individual seasons. To keep in mind, Morant was considered a future face of the league that year.

Lavine: 50.7 FG%, 41.9 3P%, 84.9 FT%, 5.0 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 0.8 Stl, 0.5 Blk, 27.4 points
Morant: 49.3 FG%, 34.4 3P%, 76.1 FT%, 5.7 rebounds, 6.7 assists, 1.2 Stl, 0.4 Blk, 27.4 points

And compare their numbers this year:

Zach: 25, 2, and 3, 66.8 TS%, 17.6 PER, 0.6 WS, .099 WS/48, 0.1 BPM, 0.2 VORP

Ja: 20, 8, and 4, 48.9 TS%, 15.1 PER, 0 WS, 0 WS/48, -3.8 BPM, -0.1 VORP

Now I would say tier 4 or lower. He is typical athletic PG whose whole game is build around driving to basket using his athleticism. Now to protect himself from injuries Ja has decided he doesn't want to use his athleticism anymore. This wasn't coaching staff decision, this was Ja's decision. Also it was Ja's decision not to learn shoot 3's. So those two decisions has killed his career. I actually wouldn't put him on tier 4 either. Because of those two decisions he is quite bad in offense and he has always been bad at defense.

But I'm not totally given up. Lot of athletic guard at some point understand they can't be what they were before and changes their game. Maybe Ja understands this and learn to shoot. Then he can be dangerous offensive player cause he still knows how to throw a pass. But right now he is Rajan Rondo / Rubio level player without defense.

Leaving off court idiocy aside...Ja is tier 3 with a better franchise that has shooters and a good coach.

Yeah, im watching Ja's minutes rn. I can see why he is frustrated..... but not asking for a trade. The coach wants to increae the pace of play and get more 3s up, but thats not the roster. top 10 in attempts, 24th in percentage. edey isnt there as a roll man. pippen jerome and edey arent there.

his behaviour is silly, immature and i dont understand how they see him every day, yet continually allow him the privilege of being a franchise player.
