As for this game, I think ochai started because he had the freshest legs, and without Jakob it was going to be a whirlwind anyway.

Agbaji started because they wanted to see if he could slow down Maxey.

Agbaji is a rhythm player, he's the opposite of a microwave type player. We aren't winning it all this year. The goal should be to increase asset value while being competitive and around 500. It'll give us more opportunity for trades down the road.

The rotation shouldn't be fixed. I'd give more minutes to Battle, CMB and Agbaji. Then play Ingram and Poeltl in the 25-30 minute range to keep them healthy.

The unrealistic but ideal line up would probably be:

CMB / Poeltl
Barnes / Mamu
Ingram / Agbaji
IQ / Battle
Shead / RJ

This would utilize our best line ups.

No offense but this is a pretty made up thing, especially for a guy that has historically been a bench player. Either way, they gave Agbaji the start so it shouldn't be applicable.

If we lost that game, it would have been rock bottom. Battle's reward for that? Enjoy the bench lol

4-6 is were most people predicted this team after 10. and I'm pretty sure management would not make a decision on a coach based on one game in the early season.

Its more certain fans that have problems handling the swings.

Probably got a mandate from Bobby to play Dick/Ochai/Jakobe over Battle no matter what

Then Bobby should be fired as well.

The goal is to win, which means you play your best players no matter what.

Continuously playing Walter over Battle is sheer stupidity.

Overly simplistic way of looking at things. That would be the justification for Nurse playing Maxey 40 mins a game like it's the early 2000's again.

Im not saying he would have been fired after that game, just where the team was headed if we had lost the Cavs game. There is a lot of pressure to ensure the raptors are a competitive team this year and the further we veer off that, the louder the groans for Darko's job will be.

Bobby will get 1 opportunity to get a new head coach before everyone starts looking at him next. Overall, we are near where we belong for the moment.

I'll say it (I don't mean you) ...The people already and endlessly asking for Bobby to be fired are the lowest BBIQ fans on this board. And they are why we can't have nice things!

I guess he’s been ok given the .500 start but I didn’t understand why be didn’t play mogbo for size and to prevent Scottie from getting into foul trouble (which he fouled out at the end of the game); mogbo hasn’t been great but he would’ve been an option (defensively) on Wadford instead of Barrett or Ingram.

I think majority wanted Bobby to get a real shot before wanting to fire him. Heck, ive been blasting Masai since 2021 and I wanted him to stay because I started seeing signs of being good again.

Now that doesnt mean im a fan of their Darko hire. I think he'll get canned first but thats when the pressure for Bobby enters high gear.

i think if Darko performs as expected with the team (7-10 seeding), around 36-44 wins, then he'll be fine....
everyone knows the roster is a bit of mess...it's kinda on Bobby to fix it somehow....

I won't even go into why our roster is a mess, and it's ceiling is capped currently as a .500 win team with a chance at 1st round playoff team

shooters have games where they get hot and put up points, it happens. Say what you will but Gradey is still a better player than Batlle regardless of hot/cold streaks. They arent just going to stop playing Gradye/Jakobe, theyve invested 1st round picks in these guys. The problem arent the players, the problem is the glut at the position

Well if it is for showcasing purposes, then fine. But if it is for development, Jakobe can go to the 905 so Battle can get some run.

Our teams always played their best when minutes were earned. If players were failing on defence, they were pulled.

This is true.

We also don’t see practice. For all we know Walter looks awesome there and they’re hoping to see it translated. There is a reason we took him round 1 and Battle undrafted - there is levels to potential and Battles ceiling is lower (in the eyes of our team).

If JKW / Agbaji continue to suck, Battle will get in

9 seconds? That's insulting. Can't tell me there wasn't 3 minutes for him.

I'm not the biggest fan of Darko and don't like his rotations all the time, but the complaining about Battle vs Dick/Walter minutes need to stop.

Battle is who he is - great floor but not much upside there. Just because we're trying to win doesn't mean we should completely put aside development. This team needs a Dick or a Walter to become real players, or our path forward is not very good.

Darko is just following orders.

Our crappy players have low trade value.

Only way to bring it up is to play these guys.

He’s 24, not some grizzled veteran. The Raptors can’t be in the habit of assuming a player’s upside based on draft position. If they did, they would have played Delon Wright ahead of Fred VanVleet forever. Casey was good about playing the guys who deserved it, for all his other faults.

We heard all summer that internal competition is good for players. Well, it’s not a real competition if Gradey can’t lose his spot. I’m open to Gradey being the better player, I don’t see their practices and he’s a different kind of athlete, puts the ball down more. But rewarding a player saving a win with 6/6 shooting by benching him the next game is gross and shouldn’t sit well with us, imo.

I don't think it's charity. We don't have a lot of sample size, but filtering for lineups with >10 min played, Gradey is in the lineup with the best NetRTG (out of 5 that qualify). Lower it to 8 minutes and Gradey is in the top 3. Of all our players playing more than 10 mins, he has the best NetRTG on the team.

I don't think people on this board quite appreciate what he does for everyone else when he's on the court. The team generally plays better when he plays, even if his individual stats leave something to be desired. You don't give up on a guy like this.
