When the draft happened, I really rated Jalen Green over Cade Cunningham. Looking back.. maybe not the right call, but watching Jalen Green mixtapes reminded me of Tracy McGrady during the pre-draft process.
You really cant teach that level of athleticism, and X-Factor in a player, and Green has it in spades that really could make him special.

He needs to keep putting pressure on the rim. More drives, more free-throws.
Exactly what Book needs from a 1B.

Re: Jalen Green news and discussion
I still don't like his poor shot selection based on his history but he did well in his debut game. I've made the argument that this team, especially over the last couple of seasons, needed a guy like Westbrook who just plays with intensity and just puts pressure on the other team because of how they play, even at the expense of good shot selection, efficiency or lower turnovers. I think Jalen Green is kind of that guy. I don't think he's ever going to be the kind of efficient and methodical scorer Book is but he's gonna bring that whirlwind of offense I associate with a prime Westbrook. And while that's not my kind of player, Book has never played with this antithesis of a methodical player before and it'll be interesting to see how their opposing approach to scoring is going to gel and hopefully complement each other.

Sit him the full 2 months, it was stupid to bring him back as early as we did. Soft tissue injuries need time.

Probably not. Suns have very good depth at the guard spot between Book, Grayson, Collin, Goodwin, O'Neale, and Brooks. Suiting up Brea might make sense too.
Honestly depth at PF is concerning in terms of size Brook, Dunn, O'Neale and Livers have PF covered although the Suns are small at that position. Oso and Nigel have proven to be worthless so far. Fleming and Huntley are untested.
Center depth is way more concerning. Williams has been awesome, Richards meh, and Oso bites. Injury at this position would be a problem.

how was it stupid? He was out all of preseason and 7 regular season games. Are you a hamstring doctor? Do you have some kind of insider hamstring grade sprain knowledge about Jaylen greens specific injury? How long do you think we should sit him in your professional opinion since it can be anywhere from a few weeks to 6 months.Biff wrote:Sit him the full 2 months, it was stupid to bring him back as early as we did. I'm not too worried about the C depth. It's solid and has depth. Richards has been disappointing especially on the offensive end but he's shown he can be a solid C when given minutes and coming off the bench is a new role for him so he'll need time to adjust.
It's the 4 which I'm most concerned with. As you mentioned, we're pretty lightweight in that department and we could really just use some real NBA 4 size in that position. Oso has been a massive disappointment and Nigel is just.....yeah I'm disappointed too but while we have a decent group of guys playing the 4 who all bring something different to the table, it's size we don't have.
But it's also early in the season, I don't think we need to go out and grab the first 4 we can sign either imo. I had a look at the available PF's out there and there just isn't any that just is like wow can't believe no one has signed him yet.

Jalen Smith is quietly balling in his role in Chicago, I wonder if he's gettable?
-Stix, now = a very good rebounder per 36, and shooting nearly 40% from three.
-We cut ties with Khaman Mal (maybe this bites us in the ass in a few years) + Oso (who sucks) and get a 6'9 legit PF on a good contract for two years.
Why? Cuz I think getting Dunn/Jalen Green/Williams into the playoffs would be great experience for a very young, potential core around Book.
Chicago needs to start tanking IMO, and selling.

I'm traveling and trying to recover from a 15 hour time difference, so my brain isn't properly functioning, but did I just read that you want to trade Maluach for Jalen Smith?!?!

Monty got rid of Jalen after just one season, and Ott is treating Maluach like a 4th stringer, so we all know it's coming.

That would be a terrible trade IMO.
Just watch the highlights of Maluach's game against the Lakers.
