The Bucks haven’t been a great defensive team in years but Giannis is still talked about like he’s Tim Duncan

It's actually Giannis whose defense has been consistently mediocre over the past 3 seasons (including this season). While Jokic has been improving on that end over the past 3 seasons. It is pretty evident when you watch them play. Giannis traded his motor on defense for a bigger offensive load. At this point, it's a discussion. They bring different things to the table on defense.

On offense though? It's a non-starter.

its Wemby or SGA at this point...SGA winning and avg a ton and playing every game- while Wemby is winning more than expected DPOY easily and top 5-10 offense...

its hard to understand how SGA isn't the favorite right now with what he is doing again with major pieces out for major time...just like last year

I actually feel bad for Giannis...he has NO help.

It'll be Shai or Jokic part 3 again.

Naw. Jokic was pretty bad to a net 0 last season. He was spending so much time carrying them offensively. He was solid in the playoffs last year. This year, he is better. Rim protection ain't there as always, but the defense schemes that the Nuggets have is better than last year. They have better defensive guys and playing more zone.

you haven't been paying attention if you think Wemby is top 5-10 offense this year. he's 15th in ppg on average efficiency and his playmaking is pretty mediocre at this point with a 1:1 assist/turnover ratio. The Spurs offensive rating is 9 points higher when he off the floor. Someone like Sengun is much more valuable on the offensive end than Wemby is.

Like it or not, amount of games won by MVP's team plays role in a award. Bucks still have such a strange roster that i highly doubt they can win some +55 games even on East. Bucks also might have road games problem, standing at 2-2 on a road, while being a** whooped by Raptors by 28, lost to Cavs and escaped disaster vs 1-9 Pacers on buzzerbeater.
Where there is good chance that both OKC and Nuggets pass 58 mark without much issues. OKC flat out doesn't lose in RS and Nuggets don't even play *that* well, but still have 7-2 record.

Shai
Jokic
Giannis
Luka
Wemby

Given team records, it’s going to end up being SGA v Jokic again, unless Luka can stay healthy

WS/48 is the best predictor. So yeh, it will probably be between Jokic and SGA again.

If SGA is going to start hitting stepback threes in the clutch, then it's over for the league. Ridiculous! What a player, and he was 1-7 from three before that I think. +28 in 35 min.

Shai being the most clutch player in the league, and leading the league in clutch points by a landslide should be a strong argument for him this season.

Ajay Mitchell being so good at handling the ball will also increase the efficiency of Shai and decrease his excessive workload.

Bringing up team record this early in the season is wild to me. The teams are separated by 3 games and one team has played 1-2 more games than everyone else.

To be fair, using records this early into the season is no less wild than using WS/48, PER, and ppg/rpg/apg, etc.,10>* games in.

Giannis probably wouldn’t be 37 PER all season, neither will Luka sustain 37ppg, but for now they’re the 37 bros and deserve co-MVPs!

There was a 3-game stretch where I thought for sure Giddey was a top 3 mvp lock, avg a near triple dub while on pace to lead the Bulls to 70-wins.

I blame bad coaching and a wet spot on the floor that injured Giddey while playing all nba caliber defense in that Cavs game. Messed up the momentum

And what does the Spurs defense look like when he's off the floor? Where does Sengun rank among top 10 defenders? How do Houston look on Defense when he's off the floor?

Once again, people down play defense when its literally half the game. Wemby will win it if he remains healthy. He's the only one capable of being all time great on both sides. The defense will be there all year and the offense will keep improving. He's 21.

Meanwhile Jokic is trash at defense, despite what his stans say and Shai can't even dream of impacting the game half as good as Wemby.

Nuggets have been playing vs. weak competition and some depleted teams (GSW w\o Curry, Minny w\o ANT etc.) and have also played 6/9 games at home, where they are historically pretty tough to beat. on the road they lost to the Dubs and to the Blazers (in a game they should have won and blew it for no good reason)

it's fair to say they'd need to face better competition for us to really know how good they are (or aren't) but it's hard to argue they haven't been playing "that" well vs. the competition they did face

they have the best SRS, 3rd best offense and 2nd best defense. they blew out every team in their last 4 game homestand.

yes, Cam's shooting has been a total no-show thus far this season, but Jokic is playing otherworldly, Jamal started with probably his best start of a season ever and AG would be an all-star probably if the season included just these first 9 games

as for their bench, Watson has been good, THJ fitting in very nicely and Jonas is averging like 25 and 13 PER 36. their main goal coming into the season was having the bench unit not be the worst team in the NBA, as it has been last season. they certainly seem to have achieved that, tho it's early indeed and we'll see how they fare vs. better competition
