Along with Brandon Miller having a mystery, no updates given shoulder injury, LaMelo now has another mystery, no updates given ankle injury.

Kon better watch out before his body is destroyed by the Hornets curse as well.

Am I crazy to think a team could get a bargain at the deadline by trading for Walker Kessler? I know he's a pending RFA and out for the year, but I feel like a team with some foresight could give Utah a rookie-scale guy with a little potential in order to secure his RFA rights.

Seems like something the Warriors should do. I think the Jazz should move him and I agree he could be more affordable than guys typically are with his profile.

The Jazz almost certainly turned down Knecht, a 2030 swap, and a 2031 first from the Lakers last deadline for Walker so they would probably be too humiliated to take one first or a couple seconds now.

I doubt it will happen, but I can't get it out of my head that Minnesota should go get him. They liked him enough to draft him. I know a lot of Timberwolves fans want to rush to get Beringer in the rotation, but he finally turns 19 tomorrow and is still so raw. We need to think about easing back Gobert probably sooner than Beringer will be ready.

It's possible, but there comes a bargain price point at which you just take your chances during RFA. Is the return lower than a S&T, or re-signing him to a team-friendly deal and moving him later?

Unlike say Eason and the Rockets, the offer to Kessler would have to be pretty ill-advised to get them not to match.

I see that. Gives the Wolves a lot more options. But if I’m them I’d rather spend assets on a PG.

For this though, maybe something like Beringer, Miller for Kessler, Svi. Feels a bit light but Beringer is a good project for the Jazz.

Maybe add a 28 swap of some kind?

This will surprise people, but I would actually dangle Rob in this trade over Joan. But it depends on how high they feel Rob's potential goes - is he a Kyrie Irving or just a Jamal Crawford?

I think it would be fun to see the center rotation transition from Gobert/Kessler to Kessler/Gobert to Kessler/Beringer over the next 2-3 years.

I get what people are saying when they talk about Minnesota upgrading at PG, but I just don't personally see it as a critical need. I am very much in the minority on the Wolves board, but I'm trying to look at how the team operates rather than how I want them to operate. The way Finch runs things, Randle is the "PG" of the offense. Randle is averaging 6.1 assists this year while no one else is over 4 apg. He led the team in assists last year too. Edwards was second, ahead of the "PG" Conley. It's just the way Finch likes to run things.

I would have zero interest in trading for a small point guard. We don't need another guard prospect and Dillingham has shown absolutely nothing. I think if Minnesota sees literally anything in him they should not trade him because he doesn't have value based on what he has shown. I also would not do Kessler for Beringer without some kind of pick-based incentive, but that is at least interesting for a few reasons (injury, Kessler is due an extension, age difference, etc.). I think a trade around Dillingham for Kessler is short by whatever Kessler is worth - paying $6.5 million a year for a player who has not earned any minutes or had any productivity or offers anything clearly better than Collier/George/Clayton is just ... not attractive at all. He doesn't look like he will stick in the NBA right now.

I've also got Berenger > Dillingham.

I doubt Utah wants to trade him given the growth he has shown already. His passing is at another level and his shot is at another level. A big that can protect the rim, pass, and shoot is rare. There are certainly a lot of guys on the roster who are available, but I don't think Kessler will be one of them (could be wrong, don't think the idea is totally outlandish).

Was that a reported offer for Kessler?

I saw reports of Knecht + 2031 1st, wouldn't be surprised if a swap were in one of the reports.
