I’d like to see Pablo Torre investigate the Mavs.

I still for the love of god will never understand how a team trades a 25 year old phenom who just averaged a near 34 point triple double and led the franchise to the finals with a relatively average supporting cast and all they got back was a 32 year old injury prone AD and a 1st.
It was a rigged trade. Flagg was part of the deal

Re: Shams:Mavericks fire Nico Harrison
Remember this epic quote from Dumont after the trade?
“If you look at the greats in the league, the people you and I grew up with — [Michael] Jordan, [Larry] Bird, Kobe [Bryant], Shaq [O’Neal] — they worked really hard, every day, with a singular focus to win,” he said. “And if you don’t have that, it doesn’t work. And if you don’t have that, you shouldn’t be part of the Dallas Mavericks.

Anyone whose hands were anywhere near the Luka deal should fired and blackballed. It is one of those once in a generation trades where only the deepest incompetence or more likely external corruption can explain it.

Even that seems really dumb.
What are the chances Flagg ever becomes as good as Luka? I really like Flagg but the chances of any rookie becoming a perennial MVP candidate are extremely low.

Re: Shams:Mavericks fire Nico Harrison
I don't buy the conspiracy junk. The NBA is not covert enough, much less smart enough, to pull this off without someone leaking it. It's not like politics, where you might get killed for leaking something. Luka was not one of Nico's dudes, so to speak, and he didn't want him getting all the attention. But Cuban deserves as much crap as anyone for this deal for being so naive and arrogant to think that, with no written agreement, he would remain as Governor and be in all the talks with the roster and everything else. Just a disgrace to sell the team to a bunch of Vegas casino douchebags that have no knowledge of or interest in a basketball team.
When someone says, "to make a long story short", it's usually too late.

It was the best compensation that Silver could give them.
Again, it was rigged because the Mavs knew damn well that they could get a better deal elsewhere but Silver mandated that Luka has to go to LA.

Re: Shams:Mavericks fire Nico Harrison
There will be a documentary about this in the future. Trading a 26 year old generational talent without shopping him around first and settling for an injury prone 32 year old is non-sensical. The funny part is I actually like their team if healthy but it will never be healthy with Kyrie and AD.
This year, they should bottom out, get a good pick in a talented draft and try to move forward with this current roster. If it fails at least you got Flagg and next years pick.
