Quality people aren't in a hurry to work for a boss who OKs your trade, and publicly calls it a good one.

Then fires you for it 10 months later lol

For starters, someone who can actually give Dumont a good advice instead of all the BS Nico was feeding him with.

I don’t know why, I just have a feeling David Griffin will be brought in. And if that happens, I’m going to laugh my ass off, even though that would be horrible news for Flagg

Average 2K player knows better than to trade Luka - you could pick a guy off the street and be better off.

It basically should be the guy behind Mavs good moves and the person who turned Pistons around.

I almost feel they need to go internal as I think they've really poisoned the brand. So either a former mavs guy or someone there. I'd be shocked if they get an established GM to come in unless they either over pay or sign them to a wildly long deal (with them expecting to be fired and paid out).

First thought was that maybe they’d trade a pick to the Pelicans to let Dumars out of his contract lol

People are going to throw out actually logical candidates but we have to recognize the level of basketball knowledge their owners have shown approving the Luka deal. If they were capable of making a good, logical hire as a GM they’d have bee smart enough of vetoing Nico’s deal. You have to assume that this will be an off the wall crappy hire

Someone is going to get a multiyear deal with a high buyout due to the time needed to fix the ship.
I will do it for half of normal salary though.

The decision on who replaces him might give us some clues into who was more complicit in the crime of trading Luka. Time to find out which side was more incompetent.

If I were them, I would hire a guy sensible enough to ask about his overall budget, smart enough to say, I need help to rebuild this entire organization from the ground up.
Probably go after the top assistant of Sam Presti, the lead scouts of the Lakers--same guys who found Reaves, Caruso and Christie etc and the top trainers from Miami...who worked with Herro, Duncan Robinson and Jacquez etc.

So...you'd demand the Yankee's and Dodger's combined budget for back office guys? Good luck?

Dirk doesn't want it and I don't want him to take it. No reason whatsoever for him to put himself in the crosshairs for future moves. He is announcing for Amazon and needs to be brought back into the org as fan ambassador.

For a Lead Assistant GM and 1 lead scout and 1 lead trainer? You need a Dodger's AND Yankee's combined budget? How much are these guys getting?
