13.9pts, 6.6reb, 3ast, 1.2stl on 40/27/96 in 32.6mpg as a -23.1 on/off being a huge negative on both ends of the floor

VJ Edgecombe is 1.5 years older than Flagg

Compared to what player of the same age is he struggling?

He skipped a grade, so you have to compare him to high school -> pro, not college -> pro, players

Now with that said, when he stays involved in the offense he looks pretty damn promising. Basically any game where he’s had at least 14 shots, his facilitating is better and his rebounding is better.

And with how bad the Mavs are, it should be a very easy decision to just tank and trade everyone away that they can get assets in return for. Then just allow Flagg to have a high usage and low efficient rest of the season.

Basically night in night out, he should be penciled in for 15+ shots and leading the team or at least 2nd in USG and Time Per Possession.

I'm a Euro that doesn't follow college ball at all, so this is my first time seeing Flagg

by reading threads about him prior to the draft and since, I was led to believe he has an aspect of a really high motor and a very tenacious player. several names were floated around quite often as possible comps. I was also led to believe he'd be a menace defensively

honestly, so far I haven't really seen either from him. i'm sure he'll be an offensive star once he develops and matures, but i'm not seeing the defensive upside or the crazy motor. not yet anyway...

It's not about where he is in year 1 of 2. He's going to improve this year then hit the rookie wall after the asb. Year 2 I don't think he will be all star level yet. Year 3 is where he should be at least an all star if he's going to be great down the line.

People forget how young this guy really is. He struggled somewhat out of the gate at Duke, before becoming the best talent in basketball. He will be fine. It is really silly how fans expect instant domination. But, this is the internet and a message board. Not surprised.

Cooper Flagg, I am not concerned.

not really

very few players have been selected this young in the draft AND were given the starting spot and green light to shoot from day one.
I mean, he's gotta be like top 10 youngest players ever drafted, right?

and most of those guys are guys like Jermaine Oneal (who played 10 mpg as a rookie) or guys like T-Mac who played 18 mpg as a rookie. Flagg isn't just playing, he was the first option basically, so far this season. none the guys drafted this young had this opportunity, except ofc - Lebron

so it isn't much of an achievement..a very small pool of candidates, if any

Kobe could have started at SG as a rookie if he would've let Calipari and the Nets draft him. Instead he chose to ride the pine with LA.
