It would almost certainly be a disaster but my hope is that the Clippers get all their picks taken away (deserved for the cap circumvention) and we are left with their 2028 pick. Clippers then convince themselves to roll with Kawhi/Harden/Embiid for the 2027 and hope the geezers find one season of magic. When that fails, they do a mega tank in 2028 to reset with their own pick.

Ballmer will be backed against the wall so hopefully he does something crazy.

I want Embiid gone, but I'm not doing this.

Now if you tweak it to where the Sixers instead get JJJ and the Grizz keep Clarke and get Portis, then sure.

It gets even better if the Sixers keep McCain and send a couple of firsts.

Embiid is damaged goods with negative value because of the nonsensical extension. The sooner you (and a lot of people) accept that the better.

Clippers sitting ugly at 3-6 with a fully healthy squad. That 2028 pick is looking like theft.

Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards

If things continue as is (winning, health, etc), I see us standing pat until the summer.

Maybe Barlow is signed to a standard contract for that 15th roster spot after the deadline/buyout playoff eligibility period.

Morey wouldn't do it and neither would I, but I think an interesting question.

Would you trade Embiid for AD?

Similar contract. One less year for AD. Similar health concerns. Seems like AD might be better on D. Embiid has been getting better every game.

I don’t think Dallas does that. They already have Gafford and Lively.

It's unrealistic, but in theory, would you trade PG for AD? Given our defensive and rebounding woes (sans Drummond).

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
Oubre/Watford/Edwards
Davis/Barlow/Walker
Embiid/Drummond/Bona/Broome

Biid is probably washed but just trading him just because to spread the washed into 3 other washed (and worse) players as well as giving up a young guard prospect to do so is stupid

I know Biid shot your family dog and you just want him gone but come on. Yes the eventual deal will probably be for nothing but it can't be for a pile of nothing AND making us worse long term imo.

Yes, however Dallas will want at least the Clippers pick, which is really hard to justify. It'd be better to add another pick to that package and get a real upgrade who actually plays instead of AD.

I'm just happy we have Morey. He netted positive value from Simmons and Harden, and I can't see him making an egregious trade involving our picks to trade Embiid/PG contracts. This will probably be a season of "evaluation" and then I imagine one or both of those guys are traded if things don't pan out.

Or we shouldn't have to if Morey didn't rush to extend Joel's contract a year ago to make him untradable right now.

Never said he's been flawless, but I think most GMs would have extended Embiid in that same situation.

That being said, Morey's strengths (draft, trades, asset management, minimum/small contracts) as a GM far outweigh his weaknesses (preference for older players, recent max deals).

Imo, medical retirement is more likely than Joel finishing out the entire 4 years on his contract. So, as long as that seems like a possibility there's no reason to rush into a bad/mediocre trade.

Wasting 1-3 more years past this one of Maxey waiting to get Joel and PG off the books seems like a mistake, but maybe that's just me.

Or maybe the goal is to build around McCain and Edgecombe, in which case two or three more years is not a massive deal.
