Jaire Alexander said he's stepping away from football and even considering retirement. Said his mental health and knee are reasons for this. First as someone whose gone through my own stuff I wish him the best and hope he gets the help he needs. However he should have informed Philly of this at the deadline. This is two teams he's been like yeah I want to play with Lamar Jackson and play in Philly. Howie could have traded for a cb 2 or signed Samuel.
I think the league should veto the trade there should be a rule a player should play one game

Did he play even 1 snap for the Eagles? Seems like they should get their pick back if he never played a snap for them.

No he didn't unless you count practice.

He was a weird late pregame scratch. I figured they just wanted another week to work him in but playing his former team, I still thought it was a little weird that he wasn’t playing. This seems to be the reason.
I hope everything is ok with him. Mental health is important and should be prioritized but a lot of times isn’t unfortunately.

I will say this. Vic fangio is an old school defensive coordinator. He works his players HARD. Might not be for everybody. Not saying his coaching style is playing a factor, but it might.
Just kinda interesting that two recently acquired defensive players retired shortly after joining the eagles. Za’darius smith and now jaire Alexander.

Crazy to think about when a coach is going to be fired before he’s even hired. Kinda seems inevitable tho.

Sirianni says he made the right call at the end of the packer game. Stands by the decision. lol

I’m not one to defend sirianni a whole lot, especially when it comes to play calling, but based on other interviews I’ve seen it sounds to me like Jalen hurts and AJ brown decided to change the play that was called in that moment. If you go back and watch that play, it also shows sirianni say something like “whyyy?!?!?” right after that weird ass 4th down throw.
As far as why he’d take the fall for it, Sirianni has done this many times in the past. He is always taking the fall for somebody else that we later find out wasn’t actually a sirianni issue. It’s a good and bad thing but also leaves you asking “wtf does sirianni even do…?”
So yes, he might say that, but I also think the play that was called (whether it was sirianni’s call or patullos call) was changed by hurts/brown. So there’s a little added context.

As far as the play call itself, obviously it was hella dumb especially when hindsight is 20/20, but at the same time we’ve seen this offense do a lot of weird ass 3rd/4th and long play calls. When a QB sees 3rd or 4th and manageable and the call comes in “qb draw” or a hb inside run play etc, sometimes the QB just wants to change that to another play that he thinks has a higher chance of success. Why it was this one? I don’t know, but maybe AJ said that the cb was cheating on double moves or something and that a deep shot would be open? Who knows…
It looked real bad not gonna lie, but also Jalen hurts has changed plays before with much better success. There was one game where he changed the play I think like only once or twice and they had no success and then the 2nd half he changed the play like 40% of the time and they looked like a more ch better offense. Maybe that was the rams game? I can’t remember which one that was.

I wonder what this would look like if Kevin patullo didn’t constantly put the eagles in 3rd and long situations by calling weird ass plays on 1st and 2nd down
