I wonder if the Spurs would trade Dylan Harper for Sam and 2 1st round picks.
Sam would fill a need.
There's really no place for Harper with the Spurs because it's going to be Fox and Castle for a while.
If the Spurs trade anyone, it's Fox.
They just drafted Harper with the 2nd pick. They wouldn't have done that if they didn't think there was any place for him there.
You can play all 3 of them at the same time (Harper and Castle are wing sized) and rotate them in and out if the lineup to keep them all fresh.
Spurs already have a few other wings who are somewhat like Hauser (Champagnie, Barnes, Vassell)..they would laugh at Brad for that offer.
Fox's new contract makes him untradable.
Unless it's for guys like JB and Giannis, the Spurs are stuck with Fox for a couple of seasons.
I was watching the last 2 Spurs game and it's very clear they need Fox as a closer.
Spurs are in "win now" mode and Castle, Fox, and Vassell are all they need at the Guard spots.
Maybe 3 1st round picks as long as it's 2027, 2029, and 2031.
Doesn't matter, what's more urgent is what the Cs get for Simons.
The Spurs don't *need* to trade any of them. The depth is proving to be valuable. Fox was injured for the first part of the season. Now Fox is healthy but now Harper is injured for awhile. They need the depth.
Especially with 1 rookie (Harper) and 1 2nd year player (Castle)..they need to rotate them in and out and not overload these guys so early in their careers.
Again, if it was an issue they wouldn't have drafted Harper in the 1st place.
And no player is untradable - unless they have a trade restriction or no trade clause. People thought Ben Simmons contract and Bradley Beal's contract were so bad they wouldn't be able to be moved - they were. So was Duncan Robinson's bad contract..we were able to move Time Lord's contract and Brogdon and Jrue and KP and Gallinari..
If the Spurs want to move Fox they will but I expect them to try out Fox/Castle/Harper together for 2 years or so and see how it's working and maybe at that point make a change, if necessary. But Harper (being the highest draft pick and the guy they most recently acquired and has the most amount of time before he needs to get paid on an expensive extension so meantime he has a cheap rookie deal) is the least likely one to get moved..
Fox is most likely to get moved, followed by Castle, then Harper. But guys like Sochan, Barnes, Keldon Johnson and Vassell are more likely to get traded than anyone else there..
