Don't blame them. But who's buying these overrated and overpaid players?

To be fair to them, they’ve had the toughest schedule in the league and 9 of their next 10 opponents have winning records.

Beal out for the year. Really shouldn’t have traded Powell
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars

Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

Raptors are in an interesting place (But they'll probably do nothing)

Pacers, Pelicans, Mavs, Kings, Clippers, and Grizzlies are off to terrible starts with good players on contract but could be sellers before the trade deadline.

Raptors are in an okay position to upgrade the roster using Barrets 30M expiry next season. A multi-team trade should be discussed involving Anthony Davis, Zion, Morant etc.

Pacers were expected to be bad with Haliburton out. If they get a top pick with a 1 year tank and bounce back next year, it can work out well for them. They will be in the tax next year though if they re-sign Mathurin and sign a top pick but maybe they'll worry about that next year.

Pels likely won't be sellers because Dumars decided to trade their unprotected 2026 FRP.

I can see Mavs trading AD and maybe Kyrie as well to fully rebuild. I would be interested in Gafford if he's available.

Insane risk but should the Raptors try to trade for AD? Not sure on the package to make salaries work but I wouldn't be against it.

How to keep CMB?

Walter, IQ, Ochai and Poeltl for AD and Dwight Powell

...is not a monster season.

Quit getting caught up in counting stats.
Someone has to get those when that many teammates are injured.

I am not caught up in counting stats, but the NBA world will be, hence the reason he will undoubtedly be an All Star. But yes you're right, I should have said monster season, where traditional counting stats are concerned. I was not trying to paint Siakam in a positive, or negative, light. He is what he is.

ehhh, if the Pacers stay as a bottom feeder in the East I don't think Pascal makes the All-star team. Way too many guys are putting up good numbers on good teams to name a player on the 15th seed an all-star.

He might be a commissioner select for the International team with the new format, but I think there's no way he gets the fan or coaches vote if the Pacers keep playing like this

Ad? Combined and Ingram and Barnes were the most injury prone team in the league. What’s the point of trading for these guys if they’re barely gonna play for us.

The reason I stopped buying tickets. You never know who is going to suit up. The NBA has a problem on their hands. These are the notable players out tonight. I did not include guys who are out for the season, or guys who have yet to play (FVV, Tatum, JDub, Herro, etc). Again, I only included widely known players, there are many more. Tonight's injury report on NBA.com is 7 pages long.

I know some of these are legit injuries, but something has to give.

Brandon Miller
LaMelo
Giannis
Taurean Prince
Giddey
Cade
Ivey
Tobias
Jalen Duren
Marcus Sasser
Ausar Thompson
Isaiah Stewart
Ja Morant
Ty Jerome
Pippen Jr
Donovan Mitchell
Max Strus
Evan Mobley
Darisu Garland
Bam Adebayo
Zion
Jordan Poole
Dylan Harper
Jalen Green
AD
Lively
Lu Dort
Aaron Wiggins
Trae Young
Zach LaVine
Kawhi

crazy extremes this season. okc may legit challenge the wins record, the bottom of the league may challenge that 76ers loss record and then there's a lot of teams (us included) in that mushy middle.

but the bulls are good example of how things can change rapidly on a week-to-week basis. they were darlings to start and now that they've cooled off they're right where we are. and i think we'll see that with a lot of teams this season depending on what stretch of games they have. but we've held up okay considering we had a difficult schedule to start the season.

Ngl Queen has been looking pretty damn good :/

Of course I love CMB, but we could’ve potentially solved our C problem.

As for trying to trade for AD, obv CMB is off the table & personally I’m only willing to part with a single pick and it wouldn’t be this year’s - that’s the maximum, there’s just too much risk with his health which is incredibly likely to only get worse as moves further & further into his 30s.

Truth is I don’t really like vast majority of the names that are currently being floated around to be available. I’d love to get someone like Trey Murphy but Dumars will probably be desperate to keep as “competitive” as he possibly can.

Those players you mention would bolt to sunny south first chance they get.. aka Kawhi... hard pass.

Look more to European talent...

I find it kinda crazy how quick people were to annoit Amen Thompson over Scottie Barnes in top young player discussions. He had a pretty good season but definitely not on the level of Scotties 2023 season. And in an expanded role he is struggling a bit.

Other than Denver giving them some resistance, I really don't see how anyone is stopping OKC (certainly nobody in the East lol). This is all without JDub too, and they only have 4 guys that have played every game. Dort, Chet, Caruso, Joe, and Wiggins have each missed multiple games.

The thing is, in the majority of their games they aren't just winning, they are annihilating their opponents.

Yeah even if we didn't select Queen if we really got offered the Pelicans 2026 pick unprotected for the 9th pick you had to have done it. Like CMB but i really think hes redundant with Barnes on the roster long term....Queen has had a great few games and starting to look comfy in the NBA.....Also Tim Duncan had praises for Queens game and Duncans a pretty smart guy and knows his stuff.

Queen vs CMB will be interesting but imo Queen has the more upside.

Dallas will likely be selling to build around Flagg - Whom on Dallas would you like the Raptors to acquire? - Given the expected acquisition cost, Davis is too old and injury prone for me.

Raps can't really sign a player of AD, Zion, or Ja Morants calibre straight up in free agency. All 3 are injury prone but its worked out for the Raptors before with Kawhi. It might be the only dice they can roll.

Ingram and Barnes isn't gonna get you to the NBA finals and this year with Tatum out there's not really a clear cut team in the East, the Pistons are number 1 right now.

Return to Toronto Raptors
