Is Jokic getting even better? Or just a hot streak?

Post#1 » by FrodoBaggins » Thu Nov 13, 2025 5:30 am

Seems like I'm making this thread every season, LOL. The numbers he's doing are insane. 26.2 ppg, nearly 75% TS on the season, 80% not including the first game. 13.2 rebounds/g, 11.4 assists/g.

Is it just a hot streak? Or has his game got even better? His touch looks the best it's ever been. He's murdering Zubac tonight - the best Jokic defender in the NBA.

Last season jokic had an injury that hurt his shooting touch. His inside touch is just that insane.

Like I said in the game thread, I've seen 95% of the games this guy has ever played, and he's never been this good. I don't know how he keeps raising his ceiling. He is completely unguardable right now. He's mastered the art of offense.

I know this board is tired of Nuggets fans gushing over the guy, but he somehow keeps getting better. I don't see how this is sustainable, but I didn't think the season he had two or three years ago was sustainable either, and he's gotten better since then. He just doesn't have bad games.

Best offensive player ever. I’ll put him second behind MJ for now.

He’s this era’s version of Larry Bird

Post prime Jokic would look like current Alperun Sengun.

He's like McHale, Bird, and Magic rolled into one center-sized player.

He's gotten better. But it's also a hot streak.

With Murray, Gordon and THJ having a hot start, it opens up so much room for Jokic. If Cam Johnson can be his normal self (shooting at 35% from deep), Jokic’s job would be even easier.

Secondly, Valanciunas being able to relief Jokic for about 15 minutes and Jokic can be his absolute best at all times. Jokic tend to coast for about half a quarter if he needs to play 40+ minutes a game. Keeping his average to about 33 minute will keep him fresh for the playoffs.

Even though Cam Johnson is still kind of ass, but he and Bruce Brown have the ability to initiate plays. Last season it was only Murray, Jokic and ticking time bomb in Westbrook. It further eases Jokic’s duties.

With more help, if Jokic wants to go off like he’s doing right now, it’s only so much more easier for him.

He's in the same form as last year. He just has much more help now so teams can't just collapse on him. He also has the best backup center he's EVER had in his career to keep him fresh.

We are now witnessing final form Jokic and it is an absolute pleasure

Now averaging 29 ppg on 68/42/86 shooting. Doubt he sustains THAT kind of level of efficiency...but if anyone can, it's him.

He also never gets hurt. Weird because he is battling in the paint every night, while Murray can't stay healthy despite playing on the perimeter

Think a better way to put it. When people talk about Jokic having a bad night, he normally has an All NBA statline^^.

No amount of gushing is too much for Jokic. He's that good. You're right about him not having bad games as well. I remember going through his game logs either last season or the year before, and there was legit like 2 "bad" games in 5 months. He is the most consistent player I've ever seen at the level he plays at.

Adelman said that the wrist injury that has bothered Jokic for the last several seasons seems better now. Think he said that after last game or the one before it.

What if he's just getting incrementally better at his strengths? Instead of shooting 60% from the non-RA paint, he's shooting 65%. Small statistical improvements that add measurable value at the margins.
