Draft Rules:

1. All ABA/NBA seasons from 1959-60 to 2024-25 are eligible, subject to the restrictions outlined below.

2. You will be required to draft a total of 8 players in 8 rounds. Each of your players must play a minimum of 8 minutes in your rotations.

3. Your team will be allowed a combined total of 88.0 FGA with a minimum of 3.0 FGA per player corresponding with the specific seasons indicated for each player. Pre-merger seasons (1969-70 to 1975-76) are multiplied by 0.85 to account for pace, with closest 0.1 rounding. NOTE: You may pick a player whose actual FGA number was lower than 3.0, but you still be charged 3.0 for that player.

4. Each player you select must have played at least 50% of regular season games in the season selected.

5. Your team needs to be composed of one player fitting to each of the following categories:

Category 1 - A player who played for OKC Thunder / Seattle Supersonics, chosen in the season where he played there for at least 50% of his games in the season.

Category 2 - A player who played for Atlanta Hawks, chosen in the season where he played there for at least 50% of his games in the season.

Category 3 - A player who played for Cleveland Cavaliers, chosen in the season where he played there for at least 50% of his games in the season.

Category 4 - A player who played for Portland Trailblazers, chosen in the season where he played there for at least 50% of his games in the season.

Category 5 - A player who ever played for New York Knicks, chosen in any eligible season (even for other teams)

Category 6 - A player who ever played for Toronto Raptors, chosen in any eligible season (even for other teams)

Category 7 - A player selected 6th overall in his NBA Draft.

Category 8 - Player turned coach - a player who ever coached an NBA game as head coach, only if he has a coach page in basketball reference

Any preceding/succeeding franchise would also count for categories 1 to 6.

6. We will be doing a modified snake draft. It will go like this: ABBABABA.

7. Players will get a maximum of a 2-hour window to make their selection when they are on the clock. If you still have not chosen a player by then, or if the player you have chosen is ineligible, you will be skipped. Also, if you know ahead of time that you won't be available to make your pick on the clock then please PM your selection to another participant. NOTE: If you miss one pick and have failed to make it by the time your next pick comes around, you will be skipped.

8. The clock will be turned off between 12 midnight and 9 AM EDT.

9. Draft order will be completely randomized.

10. After you have made your draft selection, please quote and/or PM the person that goes after you so they will know that it is their turn and they are on the clock. You may not change your pick after it has been made, even if the next person in the order has not picked yet. Please note that the clock starts whenever the previous drafter has either made their pick or their two-hour window has expired, even if the next person is not quoted.

11. The winner of the draft will be determined by rankings, playoffs, or hybrid (depending on numbers).

Team Roster Page Rules:

You will be responsible for creating a roster page for your fantasy team. Here are the things that you will be required to include on your roster page:

. Players
. Rotations
. Draft selections
. The most important of all, you must show the total FGA per player on your roster AND a total sum of each players FGA to display that it is under the required 88.0 FGA

-All of the above must be completed before playoffs/rankings begin.

Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Good God the 6th pick is a disaster zone historically.

We have enough viable options for a draft, but damn...

Any chance we allow any season instead of seasons for those specific franchises? It's almost impossible to establish a consensus regarding prime/off prime seasons. Hate to select a player I like only to realize he's considered raw/washed. Haven't researched the pool yet. If it's too deep after the change, we could reduce the time frame.

Maybe open it up for Raptors and Knicks since he didn't play for them? That adds Hakeem, T-Mac, and Penny. I think the pool is only missing a couple more first-rounders tbh.

I'm fine with Fade's suggestion, just hope it isn't confusing

Plus Kidd, Billups, D-Rose, peak Marc Gasol, Porzingis, Heat Bosh, Amar'e, McAdoo. Some notable role players are Doug Christie and PJ Tucker. I think Hakeem is the only legit 1st rounder in case we need more #1s.

Kidd, Billups, Christie were already available through the coaches category by the way

Another name you can throw out there is a Alvin Robertson who I actually drafted for the Toronto Raptors category when I simulated this draft

Anyway I'll add this caveat

I checked Tim Duncan's eligibility as coach.

Reports say he was head coach versus Charlotte in 2020 https://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/202003030CHO.html

Unfortunately Basketball Reference doesn't have a coach page for him, only listing Pop as HC this season

I'll enter a clarification to account for coach page existence

Have we ever had a draft based around a specific player and no one took that player? Seems highly likely here.
