We crushed Washington but Ryan had a pretty poor game. 22 minutes, 4 pts, 2-3 FG, 0 blk, 0 stl, 5 boards. Sarr had 23 points on 9-15 shooting. Wasn't all on Kalk but it was one of his weaker games for sure.

Not trying to dig out a rookie here but that was easily the worst game of his career, and one of the worst defensive performances I’ve seen from a Hornets center ever. Jay Huff, barely an NBA player who has a very basic pick and pop game, absolutely abused him all game.

Game worst plus minus for a reason. He was a baby elephant in any pick-and-pop action tonight. Carlisle noticed this and got him in space more, and he just got cooked and cooked over and over. His speed is a genuine concern at this level. He cannot match up with shooting bigs at all… that was embarrassing and very concerning.

Finishing at the rim is Kalk’s superpower. Blocking shots is a strength. Good hands, decent footwork. But he’s struggling at a lot of other elements. He really doesn’t win many rebounding battles, gets pushed around and doesn’t seal off paint penetration, can’t cover perimeter threats. Can’t shoot cause he has such a slow windup and release. As a result he sets screens, but is a zero threat to shoot, so nobody covers him high. Can he get better? Not convinced he can or will. Lately he seems frustrated and kind of dejected, beaten, lacking that raw confidence we saw coming out of the gate.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Strength will help him, he’s probably hitting the rookie wall early as he has been battling a lot of grown ass men. Tough new sport for him really.

He does some things well, he is an NBA player, but he is also the 34th pick so expecting him to have limited weaknesses is bad team building. The front office probably should have seen that coming and added a real proven talent but we didn't so we will try to get through the year while our center rotation has zero good answers most nights.

If he can add a 3pt shot at some point he could become an NBA Starter quality player in 2-3 years. However, right now he is nowhere close to that.

Second leading scorer tonight, maybe not a starter right now but feasting on second units isn't a bad outcome. (Pls get a back-up pg.)

Yeah it seems like he was finally starting to get a little healthier after the first sprained ankle and the elbow injury slowed him down. Hopefully this last sprained ankle isn't too serious.

Funny how Wembys block numbers aren’t corresponding with the rim fg%.
