Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

I enjoyed watching him last night, he was very aggressive attacking the paint, and passing, he had a crazy highlight pass last night. Will could take Bubs minutes tomorrow.

In a rational world that should be the case.At 6’9” Riley looks like a better ball handler than 6’4” Bub.

The thing I love most about Riley is his confidence. The guy truly believes he is one of the best players on the court - at the G-League level or the NBA level. It doesn't matter. He is not tentative in the slightest bit. He just goes and does his thing.

That said, the pass he made was totally ordinary. The cutter was wide open and it was a simple pass to make. He hammed it up a bit with a fancy spin and look-away after releasing the ball, but that was just window dressing to make it look good.

On the worst team in the nba, the wizards front office has decided that Will Riley is so bad that he is unworthy of any playing time, and the best option is to send him to the g league in the hopes that extensive playing time will improve him enough to be a valuable asset.
Viva le tank! At this pace, it will never end.

I watched some of the game. The full game is available to watch on YouTube on the CCG site.

Riley attempted 3 heaves from 3 in the last minute since they were down making his shooting look worse than it was. He was 11-15 prior to that.

His bag of tricks is so deep it makes him really hard to defend a couple of times the away announcers were like :o

 It looked amazing in real-time. Also, it shows the potential of his court vision, I am dying to see him running the point

Still looked like he was caught watching the action a bit on defense. But his poise on offense is notable.

His defense definitely looked worse down there than with the wizards. That is what his defense was like in college. Not good.

When he's gotten time with the Wizards he has looked much more engaged on D.

No. It's just unlisted so you can't find it on youtube search, only through the CCG site.

I watched all the minutes that the starters played.

Riley really has all the tools on offense. He has great footwork, an advanced handle, a high shooting release, and an accurate shot. His handle is still a little loose for the NBA though. At least 3 times, defenders got a long arm into has handle and tipped the ball away. I think he has to lock that down a bit more before we can really talk about him running point guard at the NBA level.

His offensive game actually reminded me a bit of Paul Pierce. Pierce wasn't really that good of an athlete either, but was so technically sound with his footwork that he could get off a shot whenever he wanted. I think a best-case scenario upside might look something like that. Another comp that crossed my mind was Tomas Satoransky. Riley has a more aggressive scoring mindset, but the way he handled the ball and moved on the court reminded me a bit of Sato.

Defensively he did get blown buy a couple of times when on an island out on the perimeter. This is the big question with him. If anything holds him back from being a quality NBA player, it'll be defense.

By the way, Sharife Cooper is just not an NBA player. He is too small and got his shot blocked a zillion times by G-League guys. All the talk on the Lineup Thread about playing Cooper can be put to rest. It's not happening.
