I expect them both to sign max extensions this off-season with langue in them that bumps them from 25% to 30% if they meet the qualifications. That is typical. Chet might just sign a straight 25% since he is unlikely to hit the 30% qualifier, but I fully expect the 30% bump language in JDub's contract since he made an all-NBA team this year. Chet is significantly less likely to make an all-NBA team next year, but if he plays 70 games he could win defensive player of the year.

Denver uses that cap savings for Hardaway Jr and Bruce Brown. I do not buy that they are better than last year.

Never mind, I missed the Valanciunas signing, that does make them better.

Denver and Houston have buffed themselves up although I do think Houston got worse defensively so will be interesting to see how that team performs.

Denver is better for sure. Houston probably need some help in their backcourt.

Don't know if you've seen the reports that have popped up since this post, but apparently Valanciunas is trying to get out of his NBA contract so that he can play overseas.

I assume this would void the deal with the Kings and Saric's rights would return to Denver.

Will Dieng be traded ? I could see us making a deadline deal tbh, but I could also see us just ride out the season with our roster and let him walk.

No. Just be grateful that Presti hasn't extended him. I am 99% confident that OKC's roster is done. Jones out. Sorber in. Extensions done. Presti is on vacation until it's time to start draft prep for next year's draft.

We are just waiting to see who the 3rd two way will be . Roster is set for opening night.

Who will be our two-way players this year) I think Brook Barnhizer is fix. Hoops Hype has Branden Carlson also on the list but on other lists he isn't. On the homepage team from the Thunder Leons is on the roster but no Carlson. So what?

per spotrac --
Barnhizer is one
Carlson is "transaction pending"
Leons could be, but is not confirmed. I suspect he will be an ex-10 contract (training camp to GL)

I don't have any ideas further than that..

Do we need to trade anyone ? Lol our team is not completely healthy and playing like they are one of the best teams, again, ever.

Okay, yeah, we've had some soft opponents (WAS/NOLA/SACx2, etc)

Trade JDub for a huge draft pick haul. They clearly don't need him and it will solve all the cap issues.

Maybe trade Dieng out if you can get anything for him (doubt it). Otherwise, just let them play.

Thunder have way too many draft picks this year. One idea is Dieng and our 3rd pick to Pelicans, who really need picks, for a 2029-30 unprotected. Dallas, Memphis and Sac will tank, making it somewhat possible that Thunder get Utah's 1st. We may see a more valuable player involved in a trade up.

I think there's opportunity to hold onto these for draft night for sure. Though I'm still not counting on the Jazz pick at all, if they somehow are winning games 3 months from now, like in the 20-30 wins, they should all be sweating bullets and call in the tank. If this conveys, I'm no-joke popping champange lol.

Clippers and Houston picks will be interesting where they fall, I still believe Rockets will have a top-5 record. Clippers, please implode hahah. They could figure it out for stretches as other teams bottom out.

Philly will go through some pains. I looked at their schedule recently, and they [and CLE] are the only teams in the NBA that have not played a team in the other conference. That ends Monday vs Clippers [and SAT vs MEM for the Cavs], but 6ers don't have another WC game until Warriors in December. Crazy they will have played nearly 25% of the season by then and have 2 western opponents on their record. If PG and Joel are still on the shelf, things are gonna turn south.

Dallas will most likely try to tank this year and next year. If things do not go well for them they might be really pissed at Nico again in 2028. That pick swap that OKC owns has #1 potential thanks to Nico.

Yea far too early to consider draft picks . Wait until trade deadline or ideally draft week itself. Maybe New Orleans want to trade up again then.
