How incompetent is the Sacramento management team?
I think everyone and their mother saw that their roster wouldn't work prior to the season.
Having two well known iso chuckers in Lavine and DeRozan, with a starting point guard who looks for his own shot in Schroeder who has been on like 17 teams in 3 years. They also have offensive big in Sabonis who isn't known for his post defense.
None of these guys are known for playing defence.
And they're surprised that they aren't winning??? Are they for real? Anyone with half a brain could see that this roster wouldn't work except for this management team? Or are these Vivek's choices?
I don't get how people in the NBA can be this incompetent.
And btw I'm not attacking Sacramento as a fanbase as you guys are some of the best in the league and deserve so much better. I feel for you as we had many incompetent management teams in Toronto prior to Masai's arrival.

I've got nothing but respect for Kings fanbase, one of the classiest in the league. They definitely deserve better. It starts at the top with Vivek, unfortunately. Almost impossible to fire an owner.

Until they commit to their front office and coach, they will always be a tanking team. The owner needs to bring in people who can lead that franchise. It's been way too long since they were a great team!

One of the players that they traded Tyrese Haliburton for is now in a full relationship with the owner's daughter

Hard to know how much is owner vs management in these situations

If someone from RealGM got the job right now and tore it all down to rebuild with picks, Vivek would get impatient fire them and then trade for name players all over again. As was said earlier in the thread, you can't fire the owner.

I am really surprised that we have gone seven posts without the obligatory KANGZ

Seems like he wants big names so people come watch their games? Lol. He's worse than Dolan. At least Dolan and the other bad owners let the GMs do their job.

Yeah Vivek definitely seems like a micromanager type. Maybe he just hires a bunch of yes men. Maybe they will never be able to turn things around unless he sells the team.

If he sells the team to another crappy owner, the Kings are not going to turn things around

This is a front office that didn't draft Luka because of a beef with his dad, chose to build around Fox instead of Haliburton, etc.

Their roster construction is atrocious. No coach in the league could get this team to even play .500

Re: How incompetent is the Sacramento management team?
I will simply say this. There is NO front office in Sacramento. None. You can't call them a FO with these types of handcuffs on you. Sure some smaller moves can be done by the person occupying the chair. ie trading in to draft Nique (good), signing Schroeder (bad). But just have a look at that roster. That was because Vivek has handpicked who he wants. Lavine/DDR are the catalyst of the problems. My lord.
A "defensive minded" coach that has the perfect 3&D guard that would help turn a defensive turnstyle D around, but the 2nd coach in a row doesn't play him? And there are rumors in Sacramento that the past coaches (Mike Brown & Doug) have been told not to play him. Hmmm. Who could that be. Only 1 constant.
I mean, Vivek hired Doug Christie when he knew a new GM was being hired. I will say that again. Vivek hired the Head Coach before the GM. This is NOT the first time that happened BTW. I think recently I mentioned Vivek was 80% of the problem, but I've changed my mind on that. He is 100% of the problem and it WILL NOT change in Sacramento until he is gone. It just won't. Could you get another crappy owner? Yep, for sure. Worse than Vivek? Highly unlikely.

They wouldn't get the job unless they said to Vivek they think this is a capable roster than can make a push and might only be a piece or two away. I am not kidding when I say this. It's Vivek surrounding himself with people that will ONLY push forward with this thinking players like Lavine/DDR are high quality players that can lead a team somewhere.
It's the reason Monte McNair isn't here any more, and I'm not saying he was brilliant or anything, but I think things in Sacramento would be a lot different had he been able to have full control. He wouldn't have made the moves he did IMO.

They tried to get too cute. You don't need that many streaky shooters on one team.

The all time roster of players the Kings missed on or squandered would look pretty good.
PG - Haliburton/Kemba Walker
SG - Luka/Booker
SF - Klay Thompson/?
PF - ?
C - Adebayo/Sengun

The Kings took Joe Kleine at #6 in 1985. Mailman went 7 picks later.
