Right I don’t see a star in castle at all but he’s a keeper over Fox easily.

This swap was suggested by a TOR fan, but I think a case could be made.

If SA is like MIN, they want to get Wemby deep playoff experience right away. They are especially weak at PF, and very strong at guard. Randle is outplaying Castle, and his $30 mil contract is great, and especially affordable since the Spurs have so many key players on rookie scale. I agree Castle is more valuable than Fox, but it really seems like they made Fox promises if he came there (and before they knew they’d do so well in the lottery.)

To me, Castle is a high price, but Randle merits a high price.

Not saying they're wrong, but IIRC Fox was statistically one of (or maybe THE) best clutch players in the league during that Beam team year in Sac

Randle for Stephon Castle.

I’d expand it to Castle, Olynyk’s expiring and maybe Jordan MacLaughlin if we’d want to send out someone for a roster space.

Wouldya?

The price is too high. I am not convinced Castle will be an all star level player yet. If SAS is so sure,

maybe Randle for Fox.

Hard pass.

Otherwise, it's Naz for Castle.

In a heartbeat.

What about JMcD for Castle + picks?

I'd hang up the phone.

Any examples? Just seems like way too high of a risk for the small chance he grows up.

People are different. You can't use history to determine if Ja can turn things around, especially since the answer is something we can't know as fans. We're not behind the scenes so we can only speculate on the motives. Is he upset about the team not building around him, and could that be an issue with Edwards? Maybe. Could he want an exorbitant extension and play like crap until he gets it? Also maybe. Could he just be physically declining without the skill growth to compensate, who's taking that frustration out on the world around him? A possibility too.

Ultimately the answer to your question is one that we can't know but the front office would hopefully be able to determine, so I'll defer to them on that.

At the end of the day, who cares. Dude just lives off of a few good seasons a few years ago, while younger, with thought that he may improve.

Today, and always, guy struggles with to's, struggles with 3 pt%. His stats haven't improved like some in their young 20's to when they hit his age.

He is just a talent that didn't amount to what was expected. Add on the personality issues, why even bother?

When I consider the fact that our current roster is not capable of making it out of the WC, along with our desperate need for a young PG to grow with Ant and run this team, I make this trade 10 out of 10 times.

We might not win as many games this year, but this is the kind of trade that could reshape our roster with greater long-term potential and stability.

I'm extremely impressed with Randle's play and his incredible value contract. With that said, Castle is closer in age to Ant, very talented on both ends of the court and solves our problem at PG.

Yes, please.

Gobert
Conley or Divincenzo

For:
Suggs
Wendell Carter Jr

Carter has an extension starting next year so the BYC may come into play.

SA is not trading us Castle for anyone but Anthony Edwards.

If they decide they want to move on from Fox, Fox for Gobert based deal is a very remote possibility.
Randle has been playing great, but given the contracts and their system I'm guessing they would much rather play Harrison Barnes and given their plethora of perimeter scoring options I'm guessing they would rather have more of a defense/rebounding option next to Wemby than a scorer/playmaker like Randle.

Correct. Coby White is an expiring, and the CBA keeps him from being extended for a salary he would accept, so he’s a UFA.

And even though we'd have his Bird Rights, I don't want to pay him anywhere near what he's going to make on his next deal.

why is there this assumption that White is going to get some giant contract?

lets actually look at the contracts that players that switched teams have been given the last 2-3 free agencies

there isn't that much money out there

if he even got NAW level money, White would be lucky

He’s going to get overpaid as a shooter.

I think he’s going to get significantly more than NAW.

The CBA limits Coby White’s extension at $18 mil, and he wants $30 per year. Worse, MIN wouldn’t even have the right to match another team’s offer, because he will be a fully unrestricted free agent. This means we would have to trust Coby would want to be here specifically, and he wouldn’t just choose a different location, especially one that would pay him more.

again, i'd encourage you to look at the contracts of player's that changed teams the last three, four FAs before thinking that

there is no money available for the middle-class players that White is a part of

this team doesn't exist

there is very little money available, the few teams that do will spend it on far better players than Coby White (Myles Turner, Paul George, etc) or will use it to bail out the good teams that are working around the aprons

a player of White's caliber hasn't changed teams for more than MLE money in like five years, and the league-wide money situation is only going to get worse
