How can anyone watch Laker games with a straight face ?

Post#1 » by sashaturiaf » Yesterday 4:07 am

It shatters the illusion of this NBA being a sporting competition the moment you tune in. I tried to watch the Bucks game and lasted about 2 minutes

-Theyre starting the #1 and #3 picks of a recent draft. Neither of whom made it there through a "conventional" path.
- the #3 pick is there through one of the most baffling trades in sports history. Traded for a 30+ broken down superstar who himself made it to LA in dubious circumstances as his player agency is owned by the Lakers franchise player. To no surprise this guy is averaging a 40 point triple double, but his previous team deemed him surplus to requirements.
- the #1 pick who fills the position of their greatest need signed on for the minimum after getting waived for no good reason
- they're starting the biggest nepo baby in the NBA, who is the son of their franchise player who also owns a player agency, to predictable results (0 points despite nobody guarding him since they're too busy trying to stop the #1 and #3 pick)
- the coach is the podcasting and wine drinking syncoph . I mean friend of the guy with the player agency.

The irony is Doncic is a Laker because a nepobaby approved trading him to the Lakers

Ayton got the minimum because he has serious effort issues. It's not some conspiracy.

But yeah Bronny has gotta be possibly the biggest case of nepotism in nba history. He is one of the worst players to ever play in the league.

I mean, hea, Luka trade was fishy, but Ayton? They simply had better Cs what they wanted, which was defense. Clingan asa young, promising prospect who looked better than Ayton at times, Williams is an elite shot blocker, and they just drafted a 3rd one in the 1st. I mean, there was no scenario to get Ayton mi utes and with his salary vs the other 3 compared with production ability……….. yea I don’t see any scenario where they keep Ayton, even if they do, I don’t think he would have played, so what’s the alternative? Wait for someone to offer to trade? How longs that gonna take? Having that albatross of a contract sit in the bench for a year, potentially 2? And Ayton has showed a great attitude when things don’t go his way, I’m sure he would have been a real asset on the bench as a teammate.

I mean, a Portland was in a situation where keeping him either blocks potential better and young players, benching him adds a cancer to the locker room, all while making much more than he was worth. Yea, him getting cut isn’t that big a surprise. And once he’s cut and a FA, he’s feee to sign with whoever he wants. He wants to join the Lakers, that’s his right as a FA. There shouldn’t be a reason to complain about it, it nots like the Luka trade of him being “forced” to a big market via trade for a pittance.

My man the OP may have had a few too many cervezas tonight, but I'm here for it. Especially loved the "syncoph" spelling for "sycophant" - it plays.

Lakers are and have always been a nepo team. Biggest cash cow of the NBA so of course there's always financial incentives to keep them relevant.

Ayton sucks. Yeah, of course the league orchestrated the Luka trade and the Lakers get the most favourable whistle of any team. But that's just business. The NBA makes money when the Lakers are relevant.

Why you crying about Ayton? From the day of the signing all I read on this forum is how garbage he is, empty stats, bust, not a winning player, paid to go away, etc etc.

Bronny? He sucked in college and he sucks as a pro. Agree he shouldn't be in the league but his father is a narcissist who throws his weight around to make franchises bend and thankfully he's done as a Laker soon.

Doncic trade was corrupt and set up by the league but I'm a Laker fan so I don't care.

The Lakers run the NBA, why is this even news?

Been that way for decades. It's good for business, the NBA is a business first.
