18th in runs scored.

I'm still not confident in this offense. Yeah, The Dome will help. But we don't know what Pie is ready to give us, Soto is still largely unknown and our Theriot just isn't very good. Our bottom of the order is really weak and untested.

BTW, I realize I'm the only one here who likes him, but I like Ronnie Cedeno. I think he'll be a much better player than Theriot next season and I'd like to keep him. He's several years younger and hit WAY better in the minors. In the majors during September he was raking. He just needs to grow up, but that's gotta happen at some point right?

wtf? gybe, pass it over here.

Theriot in September: .520 OPS
Cedeno in September: 1.113 OPS

Remember he's 4 years younger and his minor league stats are MUCH better than Theriot's. When he was 22 he put up a .731 OPS in 80 AB's, which is much better than Theriot put up last season.

It doesn't take much to be better than Theriot. Even a slightly below average SS would be an improvement, and I think Cedeno can at least be that.

theriot is a gamer. he (in my eyes) established himself in the major leagues. i cant see that w/ cedeno. granted he is younger, but he is not patient at the plate and is not a smart hitter. to me he is just "a guy" that you include in any package. let some other team try him.

Only time will tell in the Theriot vs Cedeno debate.

From the Orioles Hangout forum:
http://forum.orioleshangout.com/forums/ ... hp?t=57420
Gerry Fraley, of SportingNews.com, reports if the Baltimore Orioles trade 2B Brian Roberts to the Chicago Cubs, they would want Cubs OF Felix Pie included in the deal.

STFU McPhail, are you serious? If you want Pie in any deal you have to put Bedard on the table, which will not happen either.

I asked MacPhail about reports that talks between the Orioles and Cubs are dead, and he replied: "We haven't closed any doors."

However, don't look for any deals to go down tomorrow. It doesn't appear that the Orioles are that close to finalizing anything.

That was the article they had last Thursday that said the deal was complete. I'm not making that up either.

The Cubs just traded for Brian Roberts.......according to a site I have never heard of:
http://www.elismlbrumors.com/
According to ESPN 1000 in Chicago, the Cubs and Orioles have reached a tentative agreement on a trade that would send Brian Roberts to the Cubs for at least three players. It sounds iffy because no players are known but it is believed that they are holding off on announcing it until this weekends Cubs Convention. The Cubs have been known to save announcements on signings and such till the Convention. Last year, it was the signing of Jeff Samardjiza, so it is possible. Also, with the signing of Jon Lieber it would make sense they would trade a pitcher like Sean Marshall or Sean Gallagher. More on this as it unfolds...

Umm...ESPN 1000 has the Bulls game on.

well if this is true I hope its Marshall or Gallagher(preferably Marshall), E-Patt or Cedeno (preferably patterson) and hell I dont even remember who else was involved in this trade anymore.

I only want to keep Gallagher because he is the only decent righty prospect we have and we dont need any lefty starters at the moment. Hell if they value Donnie Veal I would give him up too.

It's fake. They are talking Bulls basketball on ESPN 1000 right now although Levine is coming on soon I think.

Opening play: Roberts deal doubtful
http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com ... b01_layout
The Cubs unofficially opened their 2008 season Friday with the start of the Cubs Convention.

Amid the festivities, they might have closed the door on the long-rumored trade for Brian Roberts.

Without mentioning Roberts by name, manager Lou Piniella seemed to suggest that trade talks with Baltimore about the second baseman have been put to bed.

"I don't think we're going to do anything, to be honest with you," Piniella said before Friday's opening ceremonies. "And I think if we do [acquire someone] it'll be in the outfield. I'm very comfortable with our club the way it is."
